Puerto Rico: Endless beauty
Did you know that Puerto Rico is one of the areas on the island that has more sunlight during the year? Exclusive and elegant, Puerto Rico is one of the most beautiful touristic centres of the island; famous for its luxurious hotels and nice white apartments that look as if they are hanging from the valley slope. Located on the Mogán coast, it is known for its excellent climate, lovely coast of soft and fine Saharan sand , its calm sea and exquisite gastronomic spots and stylish marina, where you see recreational boats as well as luxurious yachts.
We recommend you take the glass bottom boat whale watch excursions. At only a few kilometres you can visit the Angry Birds Activity Park, the shopping mall and walking along the pleasant promenade with colourful gardens, commercial areas, the nice Amadores beach, fancy restaurants... Many visitors practice water sports in this area, home to renowned Olympic champions.
You can start to prepare your trip to Gran Canaria today. We will provide you with all the required information to make your trip perfect.
WHEN SHOULD I GO?
Choose the date for your holiday, depending on what you want to do during your stay on the island. Even though Gran Canaria's climate is mild all year round, if you want to hike or enjoy nature, its probably better to travel in winter. From May to October, you get perfect weather to enjoy the beautiful beaches.
DOCUMENTATION
Your ID and/or passport are essential to travel as well as your driving licence if you are thinking of hiring a car. Young travellers, students or senior citizens are entitled to discounts on public transportation, museum tickets and other interesting sites.
BY PLANE
Gran Canaria is located only 4 hours away from the main European cities and the Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) is located only 20 minutes away from the capital city and 15 minutes away from the main tourist centres.
BY BOAT
Las Palmas port is the Canary Islands' first port. It is used as a layover for cruises: over a million passengers from Mainland Spain and other islands visit this port every year. You can also get to Tenerife from Agaete Port. The journey is approximately an hour long.
The journeys from island to island are covered by Naviera Armas, Naviera Fred Olsen and Trasmediterránea.
PACKAGE HOLIDAYS
May travellers buy package holidays including flights, transport to and from the airport and acommodation.
In Gran Canaria you will find a wide range of hotels to suit all tastes and budgets. The incredible natural beauty has favoured the development of rural, charming hotels, ideal for relaxing holidays and for those who love hiking, nature and traditions.
There is a top selection of hotels available along all of the island's coastline, where you will find amazing Resorts and exclusive hotels. Check if your booking includes breakfast. It will probably be a buffet breakfast with a wide variety of cheeses, cold cuts, cereal, yoghurt, juices, breads and sweets. The majority of hotels include warm breakfast and local products. Bon Apetit!
You may take out an insurance policy to cover medical assistance during the trip. We also offer a travel insurance policy, which covers medical assistance, theft and cancellation charges. Several private medical centres and private hospitals throughout many towns on the island offer medical assitance.
MEDICAL ASSITANCE
You can request assistance in any public hospital. The Red Cross has numerous aid stations in many towns and beaches. In case of emergency we recommend going to the main hospitals: Complejo Hospitalario Insular Materno Infantil, if you are in the southern area and Complejo Hospitalario Universitario de Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín, if you are in the northern area.
Like in the rest of the country, the emergency number is 112.
The Euro is the official currency in the Balearic Islands. As in the rest of the country, you may use credit cards for most of your financial transactions, especially in the touristic areas, where they tend to facilitate consumption to their clients. There may be some shops or small bars that only accept cash.
There is a wide network of ATM’s in the main towns of the island, but please bear in mind that banks charge a commission if you withdraw cash with other banks’ credit cards.

Once the booking is confirmed you will receive a confirmation e-mail. The voucher for the hotel will be also sent by email plus the vouchers for any other services (car hire, transfer, travel insurance) if booked.
Please note that no flight tickets are sent due to most airlines using e-tickets. You only need to print our confirmation email where the Airline`s booking reference appears and take it with you to the airport with your ID/Passport documents.
Important: Some Low Cost Airlines (Ryanair, Easyjet, Wizzair, Blueair and others) now request all passengers to check-in online and print the Boarding Cards before departure through their corresponding websites. Failure to do so, these airlines will charge you a supplement at the airport.
