While Old Faithful Inn is not perfect, it offers an experience that should not be missed, especially if one is interested in National Park history. I do a lot of research when planning trips and one of the best things I watched was a video of a tour of the Inn that they give daily. Everyone should see it. Based on that and the cost I knew I wanted a room in the old house, the original part of the Inn. You must book as soon as reservations open up. We arrived late in the afternoon and got very turned around in the parking lot. After getting straight and checking in we unloaded the car. Our room was miles from the entrance but there is help with baggage if needed. Our room was small but clean with some old features. The bathroom was down the hall. The bathroom was spotless and wonderfully old fashioned. One of the best features was the open viewing deck on the second floor directly facing Old Faithful. Not only that there was both a bar and a coffee spot to get drinks while you waited for an eruption. After dark was just spectacular. Dinner was satisfactory but not memorable. We grabbed breakfast in the Deli and it provided basic sustenance. Those are small things compared with the once in a lifetime experience.

Stayed at Old Faithful Inn 4 nights. Lots of history of the park. Drove to most of the main sights. Particularly liked Yellowstone Grand Canyon and geysers everywhere. Lots of bison but other animals were migrating south. Didn’t know about General Store on Inn’s property until last day, where we could have picked up sandwiches for picnics. Good time of year to travel as no crowds. Just pull over to the side of the road for Wildlife. Disappointed in food at Old Faithful Inn. Only ate three meals there. Rest at Snowbird Lodge across parking lot. No WiFi or housekeeping at Old Faithful Inn. Wifi only at Snowbird Lodge when we’d go for meals. Perfect weather during the day. High 60s. Cool at night. Bring jackets.

Staying at the Old Faithful Inn has been on my bucket list for a long time. The location is perfect, and the architecture and history are captivating. I could hang out in the grand hall for hours, provided it is not extremely crowded. The room in the west wing left much to be desired. First, the heater would not turn off, and our room was approaching sauna status. The maintenance crew came twice to repair it, and they were very kind and helpful. The room itself with 2 queens was tiny for 2 adults and 2 kids. We barely had room for our suitcases. The bathroom was spacious but had nowhere to place toiletries. The hot water was great at times while nonexistent at others. The walls are thin as I could hear my neighbors on the toilet. I know we paid for the location and experience, but I would not stay here again.
