“Great hotel!”

Great hotel close to everything in downtown Washington. Justin at the front desk was super helpful and handled a check out issue professionally. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, quiet and cozy. The toiletries smell fabulous.

We stayed at the JW for 2 nights during our sightseeing vacation. As others have said, the location is excellent. It's so close to the White House. It's about a 15 min walk to a Metro station, which isn't bad. It's also within walking distance of multiple coffee shops and restaurants. Our favorite was Swings Coffee, which is right across the street. The lobby is interesting, as it's fairly small. But it's tall, as you can go down to 3 different levels. We got there around noon, and fortunately our room was already ready. The room isn't anything impressive, but it was clean and had comfortable bedding. We got some glasses of wine to go at the 1331 restaurant, and were able to chill at one of the many lobby tables with the kids. The elevators are interesting, as you actually choose your floor before getting on the elevator. I've never seen that at a hotel before! Service was great. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

I attended a company meeting here and stayed four nights. The meeting rooms were great with plenty of space, and the dinner for our awards banquet was very good. Location is great with on Pennsylvania Ave. just a block from the White House and walking distance to museums, memorials, and government offices. Washington Metro is just steps away. Parking is valet only and pricy, as I'm sure most hotels are in DC. I had a bellman right there to help me as I arrived. Check-in was slow with only one person working and a long line. A second person finally came to also do check-ins. Elevators, in my opinion, are not very efficient. Instead of pushing up or down, you type-in your floor number and a specific car is assigned to you. When not busy it works fine, but at a very peak time, like when a meeting in the conference area is letting-out, it took us forever. You can just jump on an available elevator as you can't punch a floor once you get in the car. It only stops at the floors assigned. As an older property, the rooms are small compared to newer more modern properties. The two beds are small doubles compared to queens at most newer properties. As a single traveler, I was fine, but for a family the room would be a bit small. Bathroom was small too. Most staying here are here on business or for a conference, although I did see a few families. Room was clean, well stocked with amenities, and was daily restocked with coffee, Biscoffs, and bottled water. Room service was good as well as the lobby market. Best part is the location.
