The Courtyard DC Navy Yard is in a great location, close to Metro, Nats Park and many other sites in DC. I arrived early after a train ride and was able to check in fairly early. I will say that this CY and others use some sort of powerful air freshener and it literally has induced asthma attacks in me for over 20 years. Courtyard, and Marriott, as a whole need to evaluate this disgusting stench. The first room reeked of this and there was no way I could stay in it for 2 days. I was able to move to another room that was being cleaned and the housekeeper did not use additional room spray. That said, the scent had permeated all the soft goods and I still had a hard time breathing. I ended up checking out after only one night due to the fact that there was no way that they could find me a room that wasn't going to make me sick. The staff here though is LOVELY and I can't say enough nice things about them all. I did send an email and write out a comment card commending them all for their concern and attempts to make me happy though it wasn't going to happen. I grabbed a quick cocktail in the Bistro, and some coffee in the morning before I checked out and changed hotels. The hotel is almost 20 years old but has been renovated a few times and the rooms were nice and reasonably clean. (I was a housekeeping manager, I noticed a few things that could have been cleaned better but all in all the rooms were fine). I was given the F&B credit and points for being a Titanium elite member which was a nice surprise. All in all, my night there was fine and I was able to see my friends who live very close by but I checked out a day ahead and moved to a hotel that didn't have the same issues with fragrance in the room. I won't stay here again because I can't run the risk of getting sick again. PLEASE replace the gross room spray. I should have removed another star for this, but your fabulous associates gained one back for you.

“Pleasant Staycation”

My husband and I stayed here as we celebrated our 27th anniversary with a staycation. I work nearby so I parked in my office building at no charge. We booked using Marriot points. With our Platinum Elite status, Brittany offered us an upgrade to a corner king or 1-bedroom suite. We chose the suite. The room was overall clean. I did find an earring on one side of the bed, so not sure how well it was vacuumed. Only issue we had with the room was the air conditioning. The livingroom AC worked great. The unit in the bedroom was extremely loud and took forever to actually cool the room down. The pillows are different textures so two were fine and two were like sleep on a kids backpack stuffed with action figures. We did not use any of rhe hotel amenities. The staff we encountered were all very friendly. We opted for points instead of the $10 food and beverage credit. We enjoyed coffee from LOT 38, which is next door one morning, and Starbucks the next morning. Lots of great places to eat within walking distance. We enjoyed a low key weekend, and would return in the future.

Disappointed by this hotel. Best quality for us was location - close to our niece and metro. The downside- wifi log in did not work for most of the visit, so had to use my phone as Hotspot. Nail salon next to lobby made the entry stink of acetone. Corner room is very odd shape - would not recommend. Also next to noisy stairwell, where we unfortunately had kids running up and down until after midnight. Windows not very insulated. Pillows were terrible - both my husband and I came home with neck aches. We will choose something else next time.
