I drove 5 hrs to attend an event in Waldorf, Maryland yesterday. I originally had another hotel booked, but when I arrived at that hotel, it was an absolute disgrace of how unkept the hotel was, the conditions and nonexisting customer service. I booked that hotel because of the close proximity to the event that my daughter and I had to attend; however, after that horrific experience, I decided to find a hotel brand that I trust - The Marriott brand. I quickly went online and booked a room at the courtyard Marriott in Waldorf. Although this hotel was a little further than my event destination, I was happy that they had availability. When I arrived at the hotel, I was excited to see from the outside that this was definitely the type of hotel that I would stay in. It was well kept and clean on the outside. Upon entering the hotel, my daughter and I were greeted very professionally with a smile by the rep at the counter. He got us checked in and gave us pertinent information to make our stay enjoyable. It was a refreshing feeling being treated like valued customers and seeing how clean and refreshing the lobby area was. Our room was on the second floor. On the way up, I was a bit nervous about the elevator because it made weird sounds and sounded like perhaps the door needed to be “greased”; it took a while to close and had a scratchy, dragging sound. The room was nice, clean, smelled good, and the beds were very comfortable. We were able to decompress from our previous experience and get ready for our event without any further issues. We had an enjoyable stay at this hotel. The next time I visit Waldorf, I definitely know where I need to stay.

I will start this review by saying the staff are super nice and pleasant. They could perhaps use more hospitality training to put the finishing touches on certain areas. I will start this review by saying the staff are super nice and pleasant. They could perhaps use more hospitality training to put the finishing touches on certain areas. Otherwise, nice and pleasant staff. The only reason why it didn't get more stars is b/c the hotel is very dated once you get past the lobby. I noticed that on the second floor, there were several dips in the flooring that suggested water damage or worse. I was located on the 3rd floor, and that floor also has very noticeable dips. It is very hot in the corridors, but upon entering my room, the temperature was set on 69°and it was freezing. The room was dated but cute. The couch had a bad stain. The bathroom floor had a few tiny cracks, but it was clean. Now, the bathtub was something different when it was wet it was super slippery without bodywash. I almost did a half split getting inside. Later that evening, with the lights off, I noticed the door had a fairly large gap underneath. Not only was the light visible, but any aroma from outside came inside. I say that to say this I thought this was a no smoking hotel, but it was not because another visitor(s) was smoking marijuana at 3am. It was so strong and pungent that it aroused me from sleep. I didn't really pay too much attention to it at first b/c the hallway reeked of it earlier that night. I think this hotel is good for only one night stay. Two nights would be pushing it. I will say again the staff is super nice. If you're looking for luxury, this hotel is not it.
