My family and I stayed two nights during the NAS Oceana Airshow. When we arrived, there were people outside smoking marijuana. While I don't know the legality, this was just not a welcome that I wanted after a long day on the road. Fortunately, the lobby smelled better than it did outside. We were greeted promptly by the gentleman working the desk and since we checked in online, we proceeded straight to our room. I attempted to use the digital key but it did not work. I went to the desk to ask for two actual key cards and upon return, they did not work either. The lock, it seemed, was dead. My wife then went to advise of the situation. She sent me a text with our new room number and told me we were upgraded. Our original room was to be a two queen size bed suite. Instead, we were upgraded to a two bedroom two bath suite. Bedroom one had two king beds and a walk in shower. The second had two queens with a standard shower. The room also contained a small living room with a pullout sofa bed. There was also a small kitchen. Unfortunately, only one remote worked over all three TVs in the suite. I would suggest management check the batteries periodically as we had to share one remote during our time there. Our suite was generally clean and no major complaints there. Hot water seemed to be an issue however. I let the water run for about seven minutes with no luck. The next morning I advised the front desk and the young lady asked if I let it run a while. I told her I did and she said she would send someone up while we were out. Upon return our room cards did not work in this lock either. I needed another trip to the desk for a re-key. There weren't any overt signs that anyone was in our room in regards to the water. When I let it run over ten minutes it did eventually heat up. After our third trip out. the keys again required a re-key from the desk. After a long day, the last thing I want to do is go back downstairs. Breakfast was adequate as they had eggs, oatmeal, fruit, muffins, yogurt, and assorted cereals. The laundry room and pool looked fine but I did not utilize them. This property is ideally located between Norfolk and Virginia Beach. As I said, the staff is friendly but I am not entirely sure I would stay there again. I would again suggest that batteries in remotes be checked, and if the hot water is an issue across the property or just the one room, the guest be notified so that they can plan accordingly.
