“Early season ski trip”
Ski trip with our granddaughter. Road construction in Taos was miserable. The resort was tiny, but very nice. Great amenities.

We are Wyndham owners and came for three days — read lots of reviews that talk to what the resort lacks and showing its age which it is in many places. To set the stage this resort has more a feel of a Hampton Inn with a kitchen area that has a sink, microwave and small frig. This is not your standard Wyndham that has a large kitchen and washer and dryers in the room along with other items one expects if you stay at multiple Wyndham locations. However there are lots of good things that I shall outline below in helping you assess where to stay: Rooms: we had a 1 bedroom and it had plenty of room and a comfortable bed with two bathrooms with full showers. Kitchen is equipped with plates and utensils but making a meal there will be problematic. That is what the resort has a full communal kitchen on the 1st floor by the reservation desk. Showers have good water pressure and plenty of room for moving around the unit. Only two floors and we had a 1st Floor unit. Staff and Amenities: Very accommodating staff and will work to meet all your needs. There is a free laundry facility with 5 stackable washers and dryers; and the front desk offers detergent. Pool and sauna on site and a very small gym with a few items to use. We decided to walk every morning instead of using the gym. Ample parking and WiFi fast. Location: One of the best benefits of this location is the ease of access to the city square - took less than 5-min to walk to it. And lots of pl es to eat in a 5 to 10-min walk. There is a grocery store (Smith) less than a 5-min drive to pick up anything you need and also an Albertsons close by. One Warning: right now a few streets and many sidewalks are torn up and being replaced so it can be a challenge to walk with ease. Also the streets are being redone causing the rerouting of traffic and some issues getting around. It looks like another month easily before completely redone and then the sidewalks will all be open. Work is being done on both right outside the property. If this is an issue for you suggest contacting the resort to get an update on progress. We simply adjusted our walk around the work and the majority of drivers will stop to let you cross the street around the mess. Taos is an easy to get around the Art district and old town areas and square…..we just parked at the property and walked everywhere and over to Smith’s for a Starbucks beverage. Relaxing property and we were expecting an older and more hotel-room suite property with easy access to things via walking. We were surprised that our unit did not have a washer and dryer but we adjusted. A nice stay in a rustic feeling, well placed property in a cool town with a fun vibe.

“Pretty resort but safety not a priority.”
A very pretty resort with a good location. Enjoyed our time in Taos but outcome could have been much worse. My fall our first night there was due to inoperative outdoor lighting. I was told the lights had been inoperative for a while because electricians were hard to find in Taos!

I made my reservation with Extra Holidays which is supposed the internet reservation portal for the Worldmark, and paid for a week of lodging in full. I did that to reduce the potential for problems at the Taos facility. When I arrived, a deposit of $250 was demanded, and I was informed I owed an additional $33.94 in"taxes". Also, my room request had disappeared. I asked for an explanation, and all the desk could state was what I owed. I later reviewed my reservation online, and saw buried in the fine print the demand for the deposit. When I checked out, I again requested an explanation of the additional charge, and only was told I had to pay it to check out. When we compared my reservation and their checkout invoice, it was obvious that the difference was not taxes but in the base rate. The front desk manager never offered to clarify the matter and had a hostile attitude. On arriving home, I called Extra Holidays to get a break down to determine the difference. It was the rate for the Sunday night. The reservation system had charged it at the weekday rate, and the facility had charged it at the weekend rate. I called the Worldmark Taos manager directly, and the extra charge was credited. It was hard to believe that two different parts of Worldmark had different rate schedules. This was exactly the problem I was trying to avoid by reserving through Worldmark. This was our fourth stay at the Worldmark Taos because we enjoy the quality of the facility , its quiet location, and walking distance to the plaza. The road construction noise was not objectionable in our room. However, the construction was removing sidewalks irregularly on both sides of the street and there were significant stretches where there were no sidewalks. It was dug out dirt , mud puddles depending on the weather, or walking in the street. We elected not to walk after dark. Where the driveways met the road, there was at times questionable ground clearance. At the recommendation of previous reviewers, we had called the front desk concerning the status of the road construction, and were presented a more positive view. The wifi at the facility did not work for us. We were using cell phones and a tablet. Our equipment would connect to their wifi, but would lock up after connecting to a website. We used our data plans exclusively after several unsuccessful attempts to use the wifi. It would have helped to have a set of instructions either in the room or on check-in. Simple things like where is the trash, if there was a mid-week cleaning for weekly stays, and what to do with linens if they required a change, etc.
