“Nice Setting for the Hotel!”

I booked this hotel through Expedia and the check-in experience went very well. Peter and Paula checked us in. Paula was friendly and gave us good advice on how best to visit the San Juan islands. Our room was nice and clean. I would recommend that brighter bulbs be added in the bathroom. It was pretty dark in there. There are also a good set of weights in the gym. The property sits by the bay. It also has a RV park. The water is attractive and had some mosquitoes that befriended us! As a runner, I was able to take advantage of the trail by the railroad and the feeder road to create a three mile loop. I enjoyed the swiveling of the railroad bridge to allow the train to cross the water. One drawback. A full breakfast is not available until 8 am. It would be nice if the hotel had an early breakfast buffet option. Altogether, our two day visit was pleasant. We would stay here again.

“Quite Nice”

The room was awesome, but the shower head needs to be cleaned! Water sprayed everywhere. The glass enclosed shower was amazing though! Carvers restaurant had a couple issues: my breakfast was cool not hot (I think my masked Asian waiter forgot about me), my bacon cheeseburger came without bacon and I hope I only paid for a plain cheeseburger!

Well, I expected more... Peter at the front desk was absolutely delightful to deal with, the other ladies we came in contact with during the two night stay, not so much. Well, I expected more... Peter at the front desk was absolutely delightful to deal with, the other ladies we came in contact with during the two night stay, not so much. We stayed in room 1322, overlooking the campground and into the bay; very nice! The room backs the elevators, so all day and night we could the motors of the elevators; not very pleasant when you are a light sleeper. We had booked a double queen (it was girlfriends trip time) and it was a good size. It was very strange to be in a room that potentially sleeps four people, but everything in the room comes in threes; towels, glasses, coffee cups. The room had a coffee maker and coffee was supplied as well as creamer and all kinds of sugar; not a tea bag in sight; we had to ask someone, who was clearly annoyed to have to go look for tea. No microwave in room, which was very strange. The furniture needs some TLC (splintered off wood, mirror needs cleaning, etc.); one of the comforter covers had what looked like small ink stains on it (housekeeping should see this when making up the bed!); I sat on the windowsill and when I got up my friend told me that my black pants were now white from dust; we dusted the windowsill (housekeeping should do every day). The room needs a good deep cleaning! Lighting was very dim in the room and bathroom; the A/C did not nearly get the room cool enough and some artwork in the room would be nice. Water pressure in the shower was lousy and the 'green' dispensers for shampoo, body wash, conditioner and body lotion were extremely hard to press to get any product out of (I totally gave up on the conditioner). We still had a good time (and Peter was a huge part of it!), but it could have been a lot better.
