“Great event venue - Need to improve the rooms”

My 50th Class Reunion was recently held at this Double Tree. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights with our small dog. Overall, the hotel is very nice, with a good location and friendly staff at the front desk. When we checked in, we were given 2 bottles of water and 2 tasty chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately, our room was not up to the standard we expected at a 'luxury' hotel. We travel quite a bit and have stayed at economy motels with cleaner rooms and more amenities. The carpet in the room failed the 'white sock' test. The soles turned brown from walking around in the room. A small amount of fresh water splashed from the dog's water dish when we set it on the plastic tray (we always travel with a tray for the dog dishes). Using one of the bathroom's washcloths, we dried the carpet. The white washcloth became a dark brown where it had touched the carpet. Due to the other items on the cloth, it appeared the carpet had not been vacuumed well. Definitely not shampooed. There was only de-cafe for the room coffee pot. Disappointing that the room had no fridge or microwave. We find them in 99% of our hotel/motel/resort stays. In the hotel lobby, there was a small coffee bar. On the second morning, there were no coffee cups, and visitors had to walk across the lobby to the PAY coffee machine to get cups. The free coffee is only available early in the morning. Also, there is no complimentary breakfast. Not even a continental one. Breakfast was $10 for continental. $15.00 for full. The sign on the entry door indicates that ALL rooms are non-smoking. We could smell cigarette smoke in our bathroom, assuming it was coming from the room next to us or above us. The tiles in the bathroom ceiling had gaps, and many were stained.

“So so”

Just so so. Hotel was tired. Walked into room, smelled strongly of fried food. Room was small but clean. Coffee was like hot water. Lobby restroom was not cleaned from day before when I used in the am .Wouldn’t recommend. Was AAA rated?? I would try somewhere else. Employees were kind.
