We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Burlington VT for a couple of days to "experience" the April 8th solar eclipse (Burlington VT was in the eclipse's path of totality). This was our first visit. Although it was a bit pricey (on account of the eclipse) our two night stay did not disappoint. Off street parking in the adjoining parking garage the Marriott shares with Hotel Vermont was safe, with quick & easy access to pull our beach chairs for the big event. Staff have a good sense of humor too ... when we checked in the desk clerk handed us an "Eclipse" goodie bag full of fun stuff ... a couple of regulation eclipse glasses, the Burlington eclipse event guide, a postcard, some stickers, and even a few celestial-themed candies/treats --> a sleeve of Starbusts, Moon Pies ("the original marshmallow sandwich!) and Orbit gum. Too fun! Our room was well-appointed, quiet, and comfy. I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Disappointing check in, questionable value”

Front desk experience very disappointing. Value for experience not there. We drove a fair distance - first time to Burlington - and expected an easy check in and parking. Not the case. Checked in and asked for a luggage rack as there were none in the lobby. Front desk rep said they only have four and sometimes guests keep them in their room. (No one tracks this?) Three folks at the front desk, not busy and very indifferent to assisting weary travelers. We spotted a luggage rack on the ground level and asked about it. We were told we could bring it up on the elevator. No offer to assist. Would understand if this was an economy hotel, but rates do not reflect this. We had "city view" which, in our room, was primarily a parking lot. Hotel is across the street from the lake, so a little deceptive as to water views, even in restaurant. Next visit - and would recommend to family and friends - book another hotel in the vicinity and drive to town (as you have to pay for parking at this hotel).

In the hospitality industry, the guest’s welcome experience should be paramount. From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff exhibited an unwelcoming demeanor that left us underwhelmed. There were no smiles, no warm greetings—just a palpable sense of unhappiness. It’s disheartening when the initial interaction with staff sets the tone for the entire stay. As we made way to our room, our young daughter accidentally spilled her apple cider on the floor. We notified the front desk agent (will call her “S”) and her response was simply “OK”. Despite us notifying them, the spill was still unattended when my husband passed by the front desk 15 mins later. Mind you, there were 3 people at the front desk – any one of them could have taken care of it or placed a cone to ensure no one slipped on it. Shortly after reaching our room, I realized “S” failed to mention that our room rate included daily breakfast. We were rushing to make a dinner reservation, so I approached “S” after returning to confirm. Unfortunately, her response was lackluster. No acknowledgment of the oversight, no apology for the inconvenience—just a nonchalant check of the computer and a binder before handing over the vouchers. It felt as though I was asking for freebies rather than receiving what I had already paid for. Adding to our frustration, despite our profile clearly indicating a preference for a room away from the elevators, we were assigned one right next to them. It seems attention to detail was lacking once again. We are frequent travelers (over 40 nights at Marriott hotels so far this year) and expect that these preferences are taken into consideration when rooms are being assigned. As for the room itself (810), maintenance issues were evident, mostly in the bathroom. The wallpaper was peeling in several places, the tile floor lacked grout, and the overall lighting was insufficient. Also, the prior guest’s hair was on the shower floor (yuck!). The highlight at this hotel was our breakfast at Bleu. Emma was a sweetheart! The entire staff was great very friendly, and the food was delicious. We did eventually receive a nice greeting at the reception desk, but unfortunately it was when we were checking out. In case you’re wondering, it was not “S”. Unfortunately, this hotel fell short on multiple fronts. Let’s hope they take these observations to heart and improve for future guests. Until then, I recommend you try another hotel.

“Location is what you’re paying for..”

We booked this hotel with a group rate through a travel agency affiliated with the local Nordic Cup tournament. We booked this hotel with a group rate through a travel agency affiliated with the local Nordic Cup tournament. You are provided with a list of hotels partnering with the tourney and then block rooms for your group. Our U12 soccer group chose this hotel for location, pool, on-site restaurant & bar and outdoor courtyard with fire pit. Wonderful amenities. Approximately 2 weeks before arrival we received the “get ready for your stay” email. In small print towards bottom it said pool will be closed. Within 5 minutes of receiving the email I called the hotel (no answer) and then emailed the hotel manager. The respond was basically sorry for the inconvenience. Asked for a discounted rate for all our parents, answer was no. We had no other options to cancel and book anywhere else. Upon checkin we were offered to use the pool at the Hilton around the corner. It all just felt like poor customer service. You know you’re hosting groups of kids this weekend, don’t start pool renovations. Outdoor fire pit- didn’t work. Notified staff, they couldn’t get it to work. Hotel bar. Understaffed. Long waits for drinks with a very manageable amount of guests Basic alcohol and wines were in short supply or not available. But they didn’t want us to bring our own into the lobby/lounge area. Rooms were okay. Bit outdated. Large walk-in shower was nice. Water pressure on the soft side. AC couldn’t keep room cool enough. Room 625. Location was great, Lake Champlain directly across the street and down the hill. Staff were friendly. Did not eat at the restaurant. Bikes for rent outside in the courtyard. Parking in garage was easy. It’s a $200 per night hotel that gets to charge more for the location basically.
