I decided to give this hotel another chance this month after having a bad experience in 2017. I’m glad that I gave the hotel a second chance because the noise level was greatly improved after the front desk put me on the top floor. Also I didn’t have the same issue as last time where the fridge went out (this time it was a new fridge). The rooms need updating but definitely was clean. Also, all the staff members were extremely friendly and were a welcomed breath of fresh air after being in the car all day. I will give this hotel a 3rd try again if I need another hotel in South Bend.

“Fine for a 2 star, but not a 3 star hotel”

We typically stay at 3 star hotels for one night for soccer games, hotels like Hyatt Place, Courtyard, etc. This Staybridge was not the same level, it would be more like a 2 star, 2.5 star at best. We typically stay at 3 star hotels for one night for soccer games, hotels like Hyatt Place, Courtyard, etc. This Staybridge was not the same level, it would be more like a 2 star, 2.5 star at best. Mainly because it needs more updating. Parts of the room was newer. The microwave, frig, stove, etc. were all fine. It looked like the sink and shower area had been renovated and recaulked. The carpet didn't have any stains on it. But the tile floor area in the bathroom and kitchen had cracks and the groove in between the tiles showed its age because it is hard to clean. Window dressing and bed and bedding was good. The wood furniture showed some age. The sofa, which can also be a sofa bed, was frayed in a number of parts. The chair that goes to with the desk was scratched up too. So the room looked partially renovated but needs additional care. That is why it isn't a 3 star, but a 2-2.5 star. The rooms was clean, and the front desk lady was friendly. The trash can right outside the front door needs more attention, as it was overflowing. There was a crazy man in the parking lot, Tennessee license plate, silver sedan. When I tried to pull into a parking spot, he was standing in the spot next to his car and started screaming extremely loud at me to park in another spot. He did this twice at the top of his lungs which scared my teen daughter. If I hadn't been driving I would have taken a photo of his license plate and called the cops on him. It was a good thing for him that he drove off.
