“Modern hotel, but hot water did not work”

I stayed 2 nights for work. Status was recognized immediately and I was upgraded to a high floor, which I appreciated. Overall, the hotel was modern and new. However, there was no hot water on the first night I checked in. I called the front desk the next day to report the issue and asked for maintenance to take a look. The woman responded, "yes, a lot of people reported that and they were doing some maintenance work. It's fixed now." Hot water kind of is a baseline requirement for an establishment to have, and not being notified of this is bad practice. When I checked out, when the woman asked how my stay was, I mentioned this and she said that management would follow up with me about it. Surprising absolutely no one, no one ever followed up. Location is close enough to Lechmere T station, but there are other hotels in this price category closer if that proximity is important to you.

“Does the trick”

It does the trick, no more no less. It is well located and not as expensive as most hotels within Boston. It is also located right next to the TD garden. There is also free continental breakfast in the morning. It's not WOW but for a free breakfast, it's plenty.

Staff are great, breakfast is pretty good (its pre-made, but better than many places Ive stayed). Staff are great, breakfast is pretty good (its pre-made, but better than many places Ive stayed). Sound is pretty good, but it is fairly near some railway traffic and I had horns blaring around 11pm, but luckily I was on the side of the building away from them. The real negative for me here is the WiFi. It absolutely blows. It's fine for netflix and web browsing, but for gaming it just sucks. The Doubletree I was in central boston had no such problems.

This is a popular hotel in a decent location. Affordable and what you would expect for a Holiday Inn Express just outside the downtown core. Nothing fancy, but very functional Breakfast was fine (liked the pancake machine) but it was often very hard to find seating, food wasn't refilled as often as it needed to be and tables were not quickly wiped down. Sleep quality wasn't the best I have had at a Holiday Inn Express. The beds were not that comfortable and the blankets thin. I did like the fact that there were hard and soft pillows automatically in the room. I also found the room on the dark side. You can tell that the space has been recently upgraded and it looked decent. Location was okay. It is convenient, but only "walkable" if you have 30-40mins. It is on a busy road which can make it noisy (and there is currently a construction site right across the road). Parking was busy, but there were spots - not a hotel issue, but some very large trucks parked in "compact car only" spaces taking up two spots and / or blocking the narrow space. We were able to find parking each time we took the car out of the lot, but often it was the last spot.
