I’m not good at writing a review, but I will give the likes and dislikes of this property. I stayed here September 13-15, 2 nights. There are 3 elevators, but only 1 was working. It was a real headache. They allowed us to use the staff elevator as well, so made it ok. Even with this inconvenience I would stay here again! Likes Location - walking distance to lots of sites - walking distance to 2 light rail stations (symphony and Westlake) Executive Lounge - breakfast was perfect, had everything you need (3 types of bread, breakfast meat, potatoes, scrambled eggs, pastries, yogurt and fruit, oatmeal, coffee, tea and juices) - evening hors d’oeuvres were good but not super fancy (1 hot food, cheese and crackers, fruit platter and veggie platter) - pop and water available in the fridge Staff - all staff that I encountered were nice and helpful, no issues whatsoever Room - We had a king bed room and it was very spacious for 2 people. There was a desk, chair for seating, coffeemaker, slippers supplied to be worn there, Crabtree and Evelyn body lotion , shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and an umbrella. 2 bottles of water supplied in the room. Chargers at the desk and on each side of the bed. Dislikes Only dislike is the inconvenience of the elevators. Otherwise I had no issues with this hotel.

“Great Stay, Terrible Restaurant”

We chose this hotel for the location and reasonable price. We stayed in a King Skyline View plus Lounge Access on the 25th floor. The room was large, modern and clean. 5min walk to the Convention Center, 10min walk to the waterfront and 15min walk to Pike’s Place Market. Jess at the front desk was fantastic. The front desk and front door staff were all professional and pleasant. The upgrade with access to the lounge was well worth it. Similar to any other hotel’s continental buffet breakfast, but quieter and cleaner. The lounge’s evening hors d’oeuvres including beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks between 5:00 to 7:00 consisted of one hot hors d’oeuvre, cheese and crackers, vegetables and fruit, etc. One woman in the lounge (I don’t know her name, but she was about to go on vacation to Italy) was nice as well. Our biggest complaint was with the Redtrees Restaurant and Bar located beside the lobby. The staff huddle around watching TV or talking at the bar. Speed of service was ok and our server did continually check on our table, but everything else was terrible. • Brought us water, but never asked if we wanted any other drink • Preparation of food only took 5min – microwaved or toaster oven/air fryer?? • Brought the bill before we had taken a bite of our food • Fish and chips – the fish was not fresh or battered, but pre-frozen and breaded, not deep fried • Chips had a seasoned coating on them, couldn’t tell how they were cooked?? • Asked for a small caesar salad with grilled chicken – told that their computer would not allow them to enter a small salad with grilled chicken, just an entrée size. Ok with paying for an entrée size, but I only ate 1/4 • The salad was definitely not fresh romaine, it was bagged, shredded romaine – the worse caesar salad I have ever had • The chicken appeared to be individually plastic wrapped, processed breasts, not grilled, no taste • Awful, over-priced meal We are always polite and not the type to complain, but thought the restaurant needed an honest review. We would have said something that evening, but we still had a second nights stay and had already witnessed the lounge and restaurant staff discussing an issue they had with another lounge guest earlier that evening in front of us. The woman at the lounge dropped J.C. at guests more than once (not to be confused with the employee going on vacation). To address other reviews (our experience and opinion only): • Room was modern and clean • Bathroom was showing a normal, tiny bit of age, but was clean with no issues • Shower was hot • Air conditioning worked great • No issues with elevators • The walk down University St towards the Harbor Steps was very nice, and we always felt safe • Yes, there is a high presence of homeless population, some with drug addictions and mental health issues, as in many large cities. Not a reason to avoid Seattle. There are also a large presence of private security guards and police. If this is an issue, do some research and do your best to avoid problem areas. We definitely would stay at this Coast hotel again. No problem with the room at all, but will NEVER eat at the Redtrees Restaurant again. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

We visited Seattle and stayed in this hotel 2 nights prior to joining a cruise. Rooms a decent size but tired and rough around the edges. Chipped enamel in the bath, broken woodwork and paint peeling off in the bathroom let this hotel down. The aircon was great but super noisy, waking us up in the night. The toiletries were empty in the bathroom which was a shame. Good power shower and decent sized bath. Fantastic location really central downtown, but be warned - Seattle downtown is not a safe area at night. We did not feel safe at night and the shops / bars (except a strip club) all close early because of the drug gang problem. We witnessed open drug use in the streets during the day and a person going for a poo in the street and generally stank of wee everywhere. We did not venture out past 8pm when it was getting dark. I have not marked this hotel down because of the drug issue just a warning. The hotel breakfast was ok, nothing special and slightly pricey for what it was but nice all the same.

Because the Coast Hotel in downtown Seattle is strategically located for my needs I took a chance and booked two nights prior to my cruise. Contrary to previous reviews, the elevators were fast, the room was clean and modern, reception was painless...... Finally the price was competitive.
