Overall stay is fabulous! Need to revamp the food menu. 😩 Heuvos Rancheros was more like taco soup. Pork bowl advertised black beans, not available so substituted refried which had no flavor. Poor attitude on allowing substitutions or side additions to meal.

When we booked this hotel through Expedia, it said the pool would be closed through September. Since we were going the first week in October, we thought the pool would be open. By the time the website said the pool will not be open in October, it was too late to cancel our reservation. They gave us a pass to use a pool about a mile away but that was not convenient to do. We were just visiting my other in law a few times and then planned to spend the rest of our five days at the pool just relaxing. It was 106 degrees while we were there so we couldn't do any outside activities. We basically had to stay in our room where it was cool and just read. Very disappointing. The breakfast was great. Steven and Irma were fabulous in serving us. However, we went to the bar for happy hour and talked to the bartender Denay. We made it very clear we wanted everything off the happy hour menu. She told us that Four Roses whiskey was on the happy hour menu. My hubby ordered two of those drinks but was charged the full price. When I brought it to her attention, she said that was because it was not a cocktail...in other words if he would have had it with Coke, it would have been the happy hour prices. Doesn't make sense. She was not worried about having unhappy customers and would not give in. I was only a matter of $8 so I didn't want to make a big deal about it, but it was annoying. The least she should have done was explain while he was ordering the whiskey on the rocks that it would be full price. So much for good customer service.

The hotel is dated and not quite as nice looking in/out as the pics on the web site. It seemed really empty of people, and I only saw a couple of employees the entire visit. The hotel is dated and not quite as nice looking in/out as the pics on the web site. It seemed really empty of people, and I only saw a couple of employees the entire visit. Yes there is a lake but the only way to access it was from the parking lot (I think?), otherwise there were fences preventing you from walking down there. The pool was closed for construction; the handout I was given said closed thru mid September but when I visited in October, the concrete was still completely chipped up and looks to be at least weeks away from being opened. I was given a card to use the pool down the street at the Scottsdale Plaza hotel and that was a very nice multi-pool facility (but not walking distance...). The "resort" fee was apparrently dropped from $30 to $15 during the pool construction so that is a plus. The room was relatively basic but was clean and the bed was comfortable. Hallway noise and parking lot noise did enter my room but the whirring of the AC helped minimize that. There was a safe, and a coffee maker with coffee packs. Houskeeping was provided on request. I was here for business in Scottsdale; if I had been here on vacation it would have had a bit of a sterile feel to it all.....
