“Great Value, Some Positives and Some Negatives”

First the positives - The nightly price for the room was a great bargain! Breakfast staff, food quantity and selection, and overall dining room all EXCELLENT - same for the evening cocktail reception. Housekeeping staff (Carmen) also excellent and very sweet. Our room, poolside, was quiet and perfect size for the two of us. We got two waters daily, and the small fridge came in handy for our store-bought sodas and beer. The pool water temperature was heavenly - no need to "get used to" the cold water. There were plenty of chaise loungers, umbrellas, and pool towels. The pool-side bartender was great and seemed to enjoy his job. Now the negatives - Check-in was not as efficient and friendly as we expected as HiltonHonors members. The older gentleman at the counter had us wait while he continued to "enter some email addresses" into the computer. The other receptionist, a young lady, was on the phone with a customer, so when she got off, we moved over to her. No apologies from the man. The hotel is undergoing renovations, so one pool was closed. We asked that she move our room near the pool that was opened as that was the purpose for our stay - to enjoy the pool. She graciously did that for us and put us in a 1st floor room right by the pool. One pool had to handle all the guests, so it became pretty crowded. There was awful noise from construction jackhammering, and unfortunately, also from the gardeners leaf blowing (Could the hotel schedule noisy gardening for a better time, maybe early evening when the guests aren't all at the pool?) And one afternoon a group brought in a boombox, adding more noise to the already piped in music and general raucous! Also, the pool area is beautiful with large trees, BUT the trees continuously drop berries/seeds and leaves unto the pool and pool deck. A quick sweep of the pool deck frequently would be very welcomed and help with the mess, but frankly, they didn't clean it that often. And, the last negative is that there is a serious lack of security. There is NO check whatsoever for entering the breakfast and cocktail area, so anyone can just stroll in and help themselves. The same for the parking. They don't even ask about your car or give you a parking permit on check-in. We witnessed large family/friend groups coming to the pool, again no one checked whether these were all registered guests. This lack of security seems like a perfect opportunity to sneak people in. And lastly, some rooms seem to be in terrible locations overlooking the path to the breakfast area and the parking lot, so be aware of that when/if you decide to book a room.

This is an interesting place, and my review would probably be 3.5 stars if I could do halves. It is a good hotel for a specific purpose, which is packing a family into one room while having space. It is amazing for space and for free breakfast every morning when you are feeding a family. Beds are not amazing but comfortable enough. Staff was good - not amazing and not rude, just kind of there (although the breakfast staff seemed a bit more friendly). Food was very good for breakfast with a made to order omelette of spinach, mushrooms, bacon and cheese. The buffet style area was decent too. Room and overall facilities are definitely very dated to the 1980s but have clearly had some work done. Parking area was having work and was hard to get through. Overall, a good place to stay for the value for a family.

Excellent staffing and cleanliness while having parts of the resorts updated. Excellent staffing and cleanliness while having parts of the resorts updated. Even though I was surprised to find parts of the resort under-construction and one of the two pools closed the level of customer service and overall cleanliness more than made up for it. Breakfast was super efficiently managed and the staff were on their A game. Really set the tone for our stay. Rooms cleaned daily and evening reception didn't feel like an after thought. I wish all our Embassy Suites stays were at this level.

We are not use to the dry heat but I even so, I don't thin the air conditioner worked well. Also, the hotel is under construction/remodeling so it was not as pretty as it probably normally is.
