I found the room description to be a little misleading. Booked a Harborview premium room and I had a view of a parking lot and some AC units. The harbor was to the right of the room well in the distance. The hotel itself is fine. The facilities seem fine. Don't use a digital key because it does not work anywhere -- not in the garage, not the elevator not even in the sundry shop. The only thing it opens is your room door so you need a physical key.

“Nice room but other issues”

I’ll start with the good. My husband is a Marriott titanium elite member so we have stayed at numerous hotels. We were given a very nice clean spacious room with a comfortable bed. The other couple we were traveling with had a smaller room, but it was clean and comfortable for them. Now for the negatives. The valet fee is steep at $44 and therefore, should provide high level service. When we pulled up in front of the Westin, three valets were in front & none of them offered to help with the luggage, nor were they very helpful to our friends, one of which has mobility issues. When we checked out, two different valets were in front, neither of which seemed to care less about helping the guests. Due to age of the hotel and its configuration, this hotel is not suitable for mobility challenged guests. Even with the restaurant reviews not being great, for ease of getting around, we decided to eat there for dinner, only to find out it was closed (even the front desk seemed unaware & it was listed as open on Google). We ended up at the Top of the East which was a pleasant experience with a pianist and good cocktails (the spicy margarita) but the menu is very limited to appetizer/snack foods. If the main restaurant is closed, they should at least offer a soup and salad option. Most of these issues could be easily fixed. We walked to the Portland Art Museum since it is right near the hotel. It’s unfortunate that there were a number of homeless people who looked strung out on one side of the park. That meant the mobility challenged person in our group had to walk a longer route to get to the museum since it did not feel safe to pass by the other side. Will stay somewhere else next time we’re in Portland.

I don't like writing negative reviews. Lots of little annoyances, to summarize: this place is NOT worth the $$$. We tried to call the front desk from our room a few times (once because the icemaker on our floor was leaking and created a big puddle on the floor) and once to ask about the WIFI, each time our call was routed to a call center. Never did get through to the front desk. The "rooftop bar" was closed most days we were there. The one night it was open, the bartender had no experience and was in the weeds. One of the staff at the front desk told us not to eat in the hotel restaurant. He said there were better places in the neighborhood. (for this we were grateful) The hotel location is noisy and dirty and felt unsafe. There are lots of other hotels in Portland, go somewhere else.
