The staff were amazing. So nice, and so helpful, and always very prompt in responding to our enquiries and comments. When we asked for more hangers, they didn’t have any extras, but they went out and bought some! They also sent text messages very promptly to keep us informed of any issues, for example when some streets were to close the following day because of a marathon. They even had printouts at the reception of the streets closures. All the staff were great, but we had most interactions with Crystal. Thanks for all your help, Crystal! The bathroom consists of a toilet and bathtub/shower. The sink is outside of the bathroom. We had no problem with this, as it’s actually quite convenient, but some people may not like it. They have the most amazing donuts – big and fluffy, freshly baked daily, and oh so delicious! They’re actually for breakfast, but they seem to be available throughout the day. Good coffee too. Pros: - Great location, easy walking distance to the Welcome Center, City Market and the River District - The room was spacious and very clean - The staff were very nice and helpful - A lot of counter space by the sink for toiletries - Good lighting by the night tables for reading in bed - Good size mini fridge - Comfortable mattress - Great 50s and 60s music playing all day - Delicious donuts for breakfast - Popcorn available all day - Good size TV - Ceramic cups for coffee instead of plastic or Styrofoam Cons: - Donuts for breakfast. Yes, it’s a pro and a con – I LOVE donuts, but I was eating a couple of them every day! - No healthy options (e.g. fruit) for breakfast - The smell of the shower gel; it had an industrial smell - The fan in the bathroom runs automatically when it detects humidity, but in our room, it ran 24/7. Even when we were out all day and returned in the evening, the fan was still running. Very irritating. I can’t imagine it detected humidity all day long. Since we couldn’t turn off the fan, we had to keep the bathroom door closed all the time, especially at night. - The light in the bathroom is motion sensitive, so it turns on automatically when you walk in. This is not good when you get up in the middle of the night, because you get blinded by the bright light. - The water pressure in the shower was low - There were no hooks for clothes or towels on the walls in the bathroom. For some reason, there was a hook on the outside of the bathroom door. Maybe it was installed on the wrong side of the door by mistake They have a lovely retro neon sign, but half the lights weren’t working. To the management: please replace the burned out lights! We loved staying at the Thunderbird Inn. It exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely be returning there on our next trip to Savannah.
