This is a nice little Hampton Inn just off the highway. It’s our best stay in New Mexico. Bright and clean, and the front desk staff are friendly and welcoming! The hotel is pet friendly. They even have a game room if you don’t feel Ike sitting around in your room. Next time we drive through, we’ll skip Amarillo and stay in Santa Rosa!

“subpar Hampton Inn with very high room rate”

We stayed at this hotel two separate nights--on our way out to the Las Vegas area and then again on our way home from there. Our room was clean and comfortable; the décor and furnishings are the older Hampton Inn style, but everything was in good condition (although the bath towels were the thinnest that we have ever seen at a Hampton Inn). Although the hotel has a quiet setting and we were careful to pre-select a room that faced away from the highway, we endured a barking dog tied up in the backyard of a trailer just behind the hotel. In addition, the peace and quiet on our floor was disturbed at 6:00 a.m. one of our mornings there when a large tour bus group booked on our floor all left their rooms at the same time, banging doors and chatting loudly (guess they thought they had the entire floor to themselves). There were a few other annoying things about this Hampton. First off, we found that the sidewalk running across the entire middle of the parking area does not have a curb cutout for rolling your suitcase; we needed to walk all the way around with our heavy luggage. The breakfast was poorly run (both mornings) and generally disappointing. Although it was not busy when we were there, the hot food (which was not particularly tasty) was always out, and the male attendant was very slow to refill empty items. The biggest disappointment here was that although this was a subpar Hampton Inn, in our opinion, our room rate was extremely high. For its rather unexceptional location and its average amenities, this Hampton Inn was very overpriced. In fact, during our entire two-week-long road trip from our home in southeastern PA out to the Las Vegas area, this was our least favorite Hampton--yet the most expensive!!
