I totally get the positive reviews for this place. The rooms are quaint and incredibly comfortable. The service from staff and front desk is out of this world amazing. There’s a great little rooftop lounge next door at 620 jones. It can get loud at this hotel from the neighborhood but it’s all generally quiet by 11pm. It’s easy access to street car, bus and BART. Definitely would stay here again. This was a BIG win in our book

We had a great time at the StayPineapple. The staff were friendly, the beds were comfy, clean rooms, fun decor and we were given cookies and complimentary drinks (water, soda, wine, etc- 1 per person). They have a free water station with flat, carbonated or hot water in the lobby and snacks/goodies at the front desk for purchase 24/7. The only downside would be the parking and surrounding area. Not much the hotel can do about the surrounding area, as they keep their area clean. The parking situation could be improved as they recommend using Spot Hero when you call in (I called twice and spoke with two different people at the front desk, but got the same information… call Spot Hero). Parking was up to $90/night on the weekend if you used Spot Hero. That’s not including taxes. The Hotel Adagio, if you call direct, will charge $69/night on the weekend. The Hotel Adagio is close so it makes sense to park there rather than lug your baggage down some sketchy streets for cheaper parking. Seems like the hotel should coordinate with the local parking areas to assist the guests with a little better rates. Overall, it was a very nice experience and the hotel does a great job dealing with a difficult neighborhood. Just wanted to give a heads up to those searching for parking in a safe area.

“A Good Base in San Francisco”

Stayed here when visiting San Francisco with my partner for our 20th anniversary and we had a great stay. Before we stayed we read reviews people had left about how unsafe they felt at the hotel. This did make us worry prior to arriving but the whole time we were there, we felt nothing but safe. There were one or two rough sleepers about but they caused no problems and respected the hotel boundaries, coming nowhere near the hotel doors. There were also comments made about staff not being on reception- this was never the case during our stay. There was always a staff member in reception whenever we passed and one night this was after 1 am. When we arrived we were checked in by Jenny. She was very friendly and made us feel welcome. She explained our stay and made us aware of the $35 resort fee per night plus the $5 city tax per night too. The $40 per night did seem a little excessive for the services provided. The rooms were cleaned every other day, so we only in fact had our room serviced once during our visit. This fee does include WiFi, water refills, Afternoon Delights and unlimited tea and coffee pods for the room as well as free use of hotel bikes which do require prior booking due to limited numbers. Just seemed a little excessive for what is provided seeing as you spend very little time on the room. To be fair, we were aware of the resort fee before arriving so can’t really complain. The first night’s resort fee was actually deducted as the hotel lift wasn’t working on our arrival. Kindly, there was an offer to have a staff member carry our luggage to our room on the 4th floor, but we declined and carried the luggage to the room ourselves. The room was a great size, very cleaned and had everything you could want on stay in a city centre hotel-big comfortable bed, huge flatscreen TV, mini-fridge, air-con and good sized bathroom with a good shower. The drinks voucher we received on check-in was also a nice touch and we used this to have a drink in the bar area on our first afternoon/evening. The bar area is lovely, modern and very clean, just like the rest of the rest of the hotel. All staff members we encountered on our stay were friendly and approachable. Whenever we had a request, it was carried out quickly. The BIG downside to the hotel is the fact that the hotel had a courtyard to its rear which was owned by a bar. This bar has live music playing ridiculously loudly during some afternoons/evenings. When the music was playing well could not stay in the room as fittings vibrated (unfortunately, TA won’t allow lol video upload). Our room was actually at the side of the hotel, so can’t comment on the rooms which overlooked the courtyard. Luckily, the music had stopped by the time we arrived back at the hotel as we purposely stayed out to ensure the music had stopped- this was a necessity as it was hard work to sit and relax in the room with such noise. Due to this, I can’t comment on what time music went on til. I know the music played by the bar is out of the hotel’s hands, but they need to make guesses aware of the noise when booking or report the excessive noise to City each time the bar plays such excessively loud music that it affects guests’ stays. The hotel is in a perfect location near Union Square. It is perfect for transport links at Powell Street and Market Street. We found it easy to catch a trolley, metro train, tram, bus and even the BART to and from the airport. This made reaching all tourist attractions across the city very easy On the whole, I would recommend this hotel for location, service, cleanliness and its funky vibe. I do feel the resort fee is a little excessive for the services provided (forgivable) but the noise levels for the adjoining bar/courtyard is something which news attention.
