“Wonderful hotel stay!”

I had a wonderful experience at Petite Auberge! A beautiful hotel! Great location! Breakfast at White Swan was good.

Originally, my stay was for 2 nights in a queen room with fireplace & clawfoot tub. I had to change the reservation to one night and the staff kindly accommodated that request. I was there with my niece, on a brief overnight visit to attend a concert at The Masonic (which was less than 3 blocks away). We arrived hours before check-in and were able to check-in early, for an added fee. That was great since it left us time to freshen up and explore without having to worry about our luggage. The queen room was nice, with all of the windows open. Unfortunately, we did not have a clawfoot tub nor were there fluffy robes that the description said would be in our room (no answer was given when I asked about it). I was disappointed but not too upset as there was an unexpected heat wave and those things wouldn’t be enjoyable. The fireplace was there but we couldn’t use it either due to the heat. It didn’t get that much cooler at night. I had to go downstairs to the front desk and ask for a fan as the open windows weren’t really helping to cool the room. The fan given to me did take the edge off. After we refreshed ourselves, my niece & I checked out the lower level of the hotel, where the common area, bathroom, beverages, and terrace were. We were told there would be complimentary snacks & wine in the early evening plus breakfast at their sister hotel a couple of doors away. The hotel was easy to find and was a decent walk away from where we arrived downtown. We had planned on mostly walking during our trip, having taken the train & BART here. A few times we had to use Uber but the fares were reasonable. Many of the places we wanted to visit were less than a hour of walking distance, too, so it was a very convenient location. The room was quiet and outside noise was barely heard. We slept very well on a comfy bed with firm pillows. The shower had the perfect amount of hot and cold water and the water stream was lovely. The toiletries (hand soap, body lotion, shampoo, body wash, cotton balls, and q-tips) provided were useful. Breakfast, served from 7:30am - 10:00am at The White Swan Inn, was filling. There was croissants, cheese danish, yogurts, cereals, oatmeal, breads for toast, and fruits. I’m vegan and was able to eat the steel-cut oats with sourdough toast & jam. Coupled with orange juice and coffee, it made for a filling meal. I’m so glad I found the Petite Auberge online. The staff was very courteous and helpful. In addition to being able to check in early, we were allowed to leave our luggage behind after we checked out so we could explore a bit more before we had to leave. It really did feel like a home away from home. We both loved our stay and would definitely return, in cooler weather.
