I've stayed here a number of times and the staff has always been friendly and polite. The room is clean and the bed is one of the most comfortable ones around. You can't beat the location as Union Square is right outside its doors, there is a theater within the hotel if you want to catch a show at SF Playhouse (discounted for hotel guests), great eateries nearby, as well as plenty of public transportation options to get around the city. The only thing I've noticed that needs improving, depending on the room you stay in, is the water temperature consistency in the shower. It's an old hotel so some rooms on the lower floors seem to have it fluctuate more than the upper floors. One fun bonus to the hotel is the water system they provide in the lobby. Free to use, bring a reusable water bottle and you can stay hydrated with a variety of waters from the machine.

We picked the Kensington Park based on its location, which is extremely convenient to BART, but will return because of how well the hotel is run. It's not a huge place, but the lobby is charming, the staff was uniformly pleasant, and our room was quiet, comfortable, and spotless. We appreciated small but welcome touches such as two folding luggage racks and a lobby dispenser for filling water bottles. Excellent value.

“Older hotel in a good location with a very friendly staff”

The staff is very friendly and helpful. We needed a kettle to cook water and it was delivered to our room very quickly. The staff also helped us with ordering Waymo since we could not install the app on our phones. Also you can refill water (flavoured etc.) or soda in the reception. Coffee / teas i… more

The staff is very friendly and helpful. We needed a kettle to cook water and it was delivered to our room very quickly. The staff also helped us with ordering Waymo since we could not install the app on our phones. Also you can refill water (flavoured etc.) or soda in the reception. Coffee / teas is provided in the morning and a glass of sherry in the late afternoon. The location is perfect, maybe 100 meters to reach the cable car station, many restaurants and the China Town nearby. You can reach the pier and Fisherman's Wharf within a 30 minute walk. The room and entire hotel is a bit older and old fashioned. There is no air-condition and you cannot open the window (more than 10 cm wide due to security reasons). Still it was a good choice to explore San Francisco by foot.

Hotel location was great, close to Union Square, with a bike parking spot right in the corner, close to good restaurants and stores. Shower pressure and hot water was perfect. Room was very clean and comfortable. They were able to received packages for guests which had to be signed for, and had luggage storage for checkin and checkout. Overall a very good experience.
