We only stayed for one night- myself and my two young daughters- and it was New Year’s Eve. Once we got our luggage at RNO airport, I called, and the staff at the Hyatt Place promptly sent the shuttle to pick us up. Our shuttle driver was Brianna, and she was kind and welcoming, despite our huge amount of luggage (we are headed on a ski trip). She also checked us into our room, and was so sweet. After we got into our room, we called down to the restaurant to order some food. That was before my daughter said that she didn’t feel well from the plane ride.. and then.. threw up in the bed. This is a single momma’s nightmare (and reality), but the staff at the Hyatt Place were so kind and understanding. I washed out the sheets and comforter in the shower, and then I notified the staff about the incident when I got the call to go downstairs to pick up our food. Even though there wasn’t any housekeeping staff on duty at the time, the front desk staff never made me feel bad- they gave me a bag for the wet bedding and handed me some new bedding. I was able to get my kids into a clean, dry bed with some good food from the restaurant. Staff attitude can really make or break someone’s day, and the staff at the Hyatt Place were all so kind and friendly and helpful. Even at breakfast the next morning and on the airport shuttle again that morning, they were all so professional and nice. Thank you, Hyatt Place staff, for making what was a mini-nightmare just a little bit better for a stressed mama with two kids and a lot of luggage. As I write this review, we are waiting to check into a lodge in South Lake Tahoe. The staff here, so far, have been very unwelcoming and unprofessional. They even told us that no one is allowed to wait in the lobby, which is equipped with lounge chairs, tea and coffee, and a TV. This juxtaposition led me to write this review, as I can’t wait to visit the Hyatt Place Reno Airport again, but we will never again stay at this lodge in SLT. A little bit of kindness goes a long way!
