I'm sure everyone has heard or seen the 90s sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond". Well I mean it literally! Raymond Ortiz ( Assistant General Manager of Sands Harbor Resort & Marina was outstanding! Allow me to give a quick back story. I recently graduated as a nursing student in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I was very reluctant to travel being as though my dad suddenly became sick prior to my ceremony. However after many of my fathers firms, "You are going to your graduation!". I decided at the last minute to book my trip. I began searching for hotels near the location where my graduation would be held. I came across Sands Bar & Marina Resort. I had a later flight and arrived at the hotel later in the evening. I was very impressed with the festive lights strung through trees outside of the property. On the inside I was greeted by a beautiful decorated tree. The hotels atmosphere gave me a joyful reminder that Christmas is around the corner! The view from my room certainly didn't disappoint. Outside of my windows and balcony nestled a stretch of beautiful boats resting on the water reflected by the moonlight. This created one of the calmest atmospheres for resting and relaxing. Besides the boats I was in awe of the resorts pool. It was so pretty (adjacent to the bar area ). Again, creating a very calming vibe as I slept like a baby throughout the night. The next morning I was greeted at front desk by "Raymond" I informed Raymond that I was graduating from nursing school today and needed my items held for me until ceremony was completed. I conveyed that I would need to checkout and I would be checking into another hotel closer to the airport when I returned. Raymond gave me the warmest "Congratulations" and stated his sister was a nurse. He appreciated the hardwork and dedication of nurses. Raymond insisted that I take my time today and looked forward to seeing me when I returned. After graduation I had a mix of emotions. I was very proud of myself yet I was very sad due to my father not being able to attend my graduation. I arrived back to the Resort once again greeted by "Raymond". He congratulated me again. I asked Raymomd if my belongings could continue being held. My Uber was not expected to arrive for another 30 min. I wanted to visit the bar and have a drink. Raymond insist that I relax and enjoy the bar. While approaching the bar I heard the bartender yell, " Is there a nurse around here? I'm looking for a nurse? I'm like wait!! That's me! She stated that I deserved to be celebrated and that the drink was on the house! I literally almost cried! Strangers at the bar also congratulated me. It was a heartfelt moment that I needed more than I realized. Once my Uber arrived Raymond grabbed my belongings and walked me to the vehicle (the perfect gentleman). I stated to him the heartfelt gesture at the bar. I had no idea he informed the staff of my graduation. I never saw him go out there to bar area. I was totally suprised. Keep in mind Raymond nor the staff knew what I was feeling internally regarding my dad being sick and not being able to make my ceremony. Therfore me being warmly welcomed and treated with utmost care immediately lifted my spirits. Raymond and his staffs professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine kindness made my stay truly memorable. The staff efforts never went unnoticed and contributed to a delightful experience. I'm looking forward to returning to Sands Harbor Resort & Marina. I would recommend this place highly. Don't hesitate to book now! With much Joy! (Nurse Rose)
