PROS 1. Staying at this hotel was like stepping back into a chic, mid-century era, with Jonathan Adler’s playful and whimsical vibe. The open fireplace off the lobby was fantastic especially during cooler evenings. Spacious well appointed spa and fitness area which were never crowded during our entire stay. 2. Our room was spacious with a relaxing outdoor hammock and seating area. The property itself is surrounded by packed sandy trails and cozy nooks for sitting. 3. Conveniently located about a 10-15 minute drive from downtown, Uptown Design District, and Tahquitz Canyon trail making it easy to explore the area. 4. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts at Norma’s, known for its NYC roots before it closed years ago. Be warned, though—the portions are *massive*, so order accordingly! CONS 1. The bathroom’s hot water situation was frustrating. At one point, it took about 15 minutes for the sink hot faucet to get warm, and the shower was even worse. The water temperature would fluctuate midstream from warm to cool to warm again. We were about to lodge a complaint when another guest beat us to it at the front desk which shows that this is clearly a problem. The water situation improved but not 100%. 2. Our room was on the ground floor near the lobby and concierge area so we could hear quite a bit of noise. On multiple nights, there were bursts of loud laughter and conversations until around 10 pm that carried directly into our room. While we were grateful for the complimentary upgrade through Amex Platinum FHR, I wish we had been placed in a quieter room away from the lobby.

Loved the Parker though VERY expensive per night at $1,500 Food at Normas restaurant on property was great. “Cute but OVERPRICED”

The good stuff first: 1. The grounds and decor are cute and lend to a fun, relaxed ambiance. 2. 90% of the food we had was very good although quite pricey. 3. Staff was accommodating and friendly. 4. Location is outside of downtown for a more relaxing feel. Now for the bad stuff: 1. When you book through their website you get a quote for a nightly price. Mine was around $700 for a stay for 4, pay for 3. Great! It should be $2100 before taxes, fees and whatnot. However if you tap the little "rate details" button you will see that the room is NOT $700 a night. It is $1469 for the first, $1289 for the second and $899 for the third, last night "free". When you select a $700 per night room it should at least be somewhere in that range with the taxes and fees not double. 2. The room I got for that exorbitant price was OK in size but the "patio" was puny with some uncomfortable metal chairs, a shabby looking hammock and electrical wires poking out of the sand. The pictures showed a beautiful patio with a comfy couch and bougainvillea. We were also placed steps away from the lobby where we could hear every conversation and if we stepped out onto our patio we could enjoy the sounds of the busy road. At this point I thought I was paying $700 per night. If I had known it was $1469 I would have flipped a lid. I have stayed in much nicer rooms for less than that! We ended up upgrading to a better room for extra $ per night. It was nicer but there were still issues. 3. The bathrooms are nice except for the fact that the shower has no place to put your soap or shampoo. On the floor it went. And there is one little knob for a single towel. Not very convenient. 4. On saturday night we couldn't even get a cocktail at the cute little bar. There was one Bartender working and it was mobbed with hotel guests. We ended up going to dinner early instead of enjoying the bar. 5. The walls were thin and we could hear all the late night revelers coming in at 2 AM shouting and banging on doors. 6. The fees add up quickly with resort fee, valet fee, and 13.5% tax. Our stay was mostly good. The only thing that really annoyed me was the misleading pricing. If a room is $1500 then say so. Don't use a sneaky come on that lists it for half that price unless you open up a little "rate details" tab.

We were there for a week last week , all the conditions have been perfect, weather, beautiful hotel , very unique room etc . But … than came the disappointing part : The place is overpriced to the extreme, the room , the food especially and any other services … and it’s not even that good, a plate of plain spaghetti (no vegetables no cheese only pasta ) dry and overcooked $50 … I can go on and on about the mediocre service but I think you get the idea ! Does not worth the price.
