The hotel seems recently updated and clean (if a bit soulless). Pros: Location is great Rooms are clean Most of resort fee can be offset by dining at the pretty decent restaurant Breakfast is included and pretty substantial Cons: The line at the front desk can get quite long at times The elevators can take awhile at times. Like 5-10 min The hotel is a little too generic Overall, Id stay here again.

“Let’s be real!”

While the hotel itself was beautiful. There were only two elevators for the entire hotel so you would spend 10 minutes bare minimum waiting for the elevator. And unfortunately, the stairwell did not go to the lobby so taking the stairs was not an option. You also shared the elevator with the staff so you could wait for 10 minutes for an elevator and have the lady with the towel bin on the elevator not willing to get off and let you and your family on. Breakfast was included if anyone asked for more the staff comments like “there’s four of us and 20 of you, you will have to wait”. Breakfast was also done by 9am too so if you slept in on your vacation you missed it! The towels by the pool were always out and I heard a man in the hot tub say he requested more at the front desk but there was no staff to bring them to his family. Needless to stay the staff there was not pleasant. If you’re paying a fortune for a nice hotel you would hope the staff was pleasant, there were decent amenities and resources. But it was a beautiful room and Oceanside itself is wonderful.

Let me start with the positive: On the plus side, the room was fine/nice. The bed and pillows were fine/nice. The bathrooms are nice. The balconies have a nice view. Even though the hotel was right by the train (all the hotels in Oceanside are), the room was well-soundproofed, and we weren't bothered by any outside noise. The only charge $32 per day for parking. The rooms have a small fridge and a microwave. But...it's a lot of money for... No valet. No restaurant. No room service. No coffee shop or espresso stand. No spa. No gift shop. The gym has 3 machines in a tiny room. There is one water station for refilling water bottles, but it doesn't seem to have filtered water (seems like you could get tap water). It's located on the 6th floor in the gym, which is not convenient, especially considering the situation with the elevators. They have a tiny area selling a few chips and drinks. But you have to pay at the front desk so if a lot of people are checking in our out this could take a long time and simply isn't worth it. There is a wine shop that is connected to the lobby. But unless you're into wine, it's not that exciting and there isn't anything in there for kids or regular folk. I hardly saw anyone in there. The elevators take forever. There are just two elevators, and only one goes to the basement parking lot. With so many people staying at the hotel, standing and waiting for elevators for a very long time is a hassle. Maybe the speed is fine when there aren't too many people there. It's an outrageous amount of money considering everything they don't have. The free breakfast is just okay. It's not great. And when there are a lot of people they run out of things very fast (even coffee) and it can take a while for them to replenish. Self-park is a reasonable price, but beware, the garage is incredibly tight, and they have wrapped every pillar in astroturf or carpet because it's obvious that more than a few people have hit the pillars). The front desk staff is okay. Some are nice, some are just working, aren't happy about it, and don't feel like helping. There is no information about what the hotel offers, where to get food, when breakfast is served, how to get to the wifi, or things to do in town. Nothing. I don't know if there was an app we were supposed to use. But no one told us anything. There is no QR code anywhere to find out more info. Even when I tried to check in just 20 minutes before 4 pm they offered me nothing. They said that check-in is guaranteed at 4 pm and then just looked at me. I explained that i was there (hi!) and wondered where to park (remember there is no valet) and that I had a lot of luggage to handle on my own. Only then did they offer that I could get a luggage cart and they could store my luggage and that I could park my car and give me a key for the garage and that I could wait on the terrace. But it was like pulling teeth. The terrace could be lovely if it had some umbrellas. But it's way to hot and sunny to sit up there in the direct sunlight without any shade. It was baffling why they didn't have any umbrellas. I guess you could sit there in the early morning or late in the evening. I think they might offer beach towels, but no one ever offered them to us, and I never figured out where to find them. I saw a family getting beach chairs and boogie boards from the front desk, but I don't know if that was something the hotel was offering because, again, no one offered. And there was no where in the room or around the hotel to find the information. I tried looking on my Marriott app to see if any of this information was available - but never found anything. While we were there, Oceanside had a farmers market and a sunset market. We could have easily missed these because the hotel did not provide information about anything local. Lastly, they have a bible in the room. Seriously? It seemed so like a cheap motel. I find this kind of religious bias in 2024 bizarre. What if you are Jewish? Muslim? Hindu or Buddhist? It's just wrong. There is no place for it, and it isn't unnecessary. Everyone can bring their own religious text when and where they need to. Would I stay there again? maybe if I got a cheaper rate. But for $500+ per night? no, probably not. But I'll repeat that the rooms and beds are fine/nice. and the hotel lobby and shared areas are fine.

The hotel is average. There is a ripe off mandatory $35 resort fee for towels you don’t need Forget trying to call the hotel, they never answer the phone. I was overcharged by the hotel and got the run around when my room bill was higher than my reservation made on the Marriott site. Breakfast is gross. It is free and the whole lobby smells of waffles and syrup. Don’t eat inside. I went to a local cafe for breakfast rather than have their prison food.
