Had great short stay at the Kaimana Beach Hotel. Located beach front, this boutique hotel, which has been updated is a hidden gem. The hotel is at the edge of Waikiki, across from Kapiolani park which is great for walking, fee tennis, and an outdoor fitness area. The hotel is also walking distance to the zoo, and restaurants and shops in Waikiki. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming, and embodies the spirit of Aloha. Great check in experience, with a free cocktail at the hau tree lanai. The room was compact, but clean, and nicely appointed, including comfortable bedding, nice linens, new A C. And a clean and efficient bathroom with a great shower. You can request a coffeemaker, bottled water and a robe free of charge. It’s part of the resort fee. They also have daily activities like lei making, I opted for a free paddle board lesson, which was awesome. If you’re looking for a boutique, upscale, beach front property, away from the main hustle of Waikiki but still walking distance. I highly recommend the Kaimana beach hotel.

My wife and I indulged in the ocean view hotel room and it was well worth the investment. The space was well designed and the beds were very comfortable. Having the beach just outside of the building made our relaxation time so much easier. We had brunch and dinner at their restaurant, the Hau tree. Both times were incredible with warm and unique hospitality from our servers Ali and Michael. The food was top notch, the Uber cinnamon roll was over the top indulgent and the house made pasta was delicious.

This might be a long one since I love giving a full picture of the process. The girlypops and I needed a little break from our everyday environment, and just a reason to celebrate/treat ourselves. We decided Kaimana Beach Hotel would be the perfect place to do that. Booking my stay at the Kaimana Beach Hotel was so easy! I talked to Atsuko to help with booking my stay, and it was such a breezy process. Atsuko answered all of my questions and was very friendly during the booking process. This is definitely a small private lot! We arrived at a fairly busy hour, but the valet was working as efficiently as possible to give our tickets. I'm not sure if the valet has an open time, but be prepared if you plan on leaving the hotel before 6am to have to retrieve your own car. That was one of our very few neutral points. Checking in was very seamless. The hotel sends out a pre-check in form that was very easy to follow. It also allows you to add on fun little treats for your arrival- we opted for the handcrafted chocolates from a local cafe called Fusion (absolutely delicious!). Dustin was very informative with the amenities & activities the hotel offers. He and Chad were personable, welcoming, and assuring of their assistance! They were helpful in getting us (freshly warm!!) beach towels, and chilled coconut waters (very refreshing with how hot this summer has been turning out to be). The bones of the hotel can feel a bit dated, and trying to navigate your room from the elevators can be a little tricky. Luckily it's not a super large building and it's a straight-forward square. The room itself was stunning! We booked a Panoramic Ocean Front room, and friends... this is the view you desire in your fantasies of traveling and having that enchanting escape from your everyday environment. Because we were on the 4th floor, we were in line with the palm trees (very aesthetically pleasing). The location of the hotel itself is one of the main reasons we love the hotel- but the ability to see Waikiki and even the faint shadow of Ewa behind that, is what further solidifies how much of a gem Kaimana Beach Hotel is. The room was very clean, cohesive, and contemporary. Local artists' artwork is incorporated beautifully throughout the room- from the prints, to the decorative pillows, to the shower curtain. Intentionally highlighting the essence of Kaimana and what it means to be a hotel in Hawai'i. The bed was made so perfectly, and was like the beds that you see in commercials: plush, comfortable, clean. (We're keeping in mind we're at a hotel, so the beds and pillows are just different. We're personally firm foam mattress people, so the difference in beds is noticeable). Bathroom is beautiful, but we weren't sure if there was supposed to be a bathroom fan or not... The bathroom products smelled great, and we loved the natural clean feel of the soap! We're gonna circle back to that view, because wow, da beach is RIGHT THERE!!! How fantastic it was to see a monk seal in the water as well! For dinner we walked over to Barefoot Beach Cafe. It was a good 8 minute walk. With a more secluded location comes the drawback of the lack of restaurants nearby, but there are enough in walking distance (like 15-20 minutes) that allows you to explore local companies or stick with familiar establishments. We made reservations at Hau Tree for brunch for the following day. Eating under that historic tree ON DA BEACH!! >>>> We were met by friendly hosts and greeted by our wonderful server, Andrew. Andrew kindly asked us if there were any diet restrictions to be aware of and we told him that one of us is vegan, and there is a soy allergy. There are not too many Vegan options, but the staff was as accommodating with our restrictions as they could be. Andrew was incredibly caring to check in with my vegan friend, to ensure if he could get anything for her (she stuck with a coffee). The Art's Mango Whoopsie was a delicious little mocktail that felt bright and refreshing. I'm picky about Ube (some of the Ube combinations society has created have gone a little too far), so I was initially weary of the Ube Roll. Exquisite. The Ube was represented so well, and balanced beautiful with the toasted macadamia nuts. It was crunchy, soft, sweet, but not overpowering. 10/10. We got a Chicken Club to go. You know how fries get a little gross once they're not hot? Not these fries. I love my fries to be a lil cwispy, and these fries remained that way. Demolished. The sandwich itself was just perfect, I thought I was in food heaven. Mopped. Both Andrew & Andy were attentive with our table, and further reinforced our love for Hau Tree. 11am. There we stand with all of our bags and the sadness of our staycation coming to a close, with the daunting work week in the near future. Alyssa & Jasmine warmly greeted us at the counter, sweetly inquiring how our stay was, and updating us on our bill. They wished us luck on the remainder of our weekend, and the pleasant partings of seeing us again soon. Overall, our stay at Kaimana Beach Hotel was a very enjoyable experience. Dustin & Alyssa at the Front desk went above & beyond to make our stay warm, inviting, and personable. The hotel really helped to remind us to slow down and enjoy this beauteous island. TLDR; Kaimana Beach Hotel is that gworl, and stands her ground for being part of Travel + Leisure's Top 500 Best Hotels.

I'll start by specifying that we stayed in the PARK WING 1 BEDROOM. After booking this hotel, I looked all over for reviews for this specific room and struggled to find much. So I wanted to make that clear. This is an old-school hotel that part of it has been renovated to be more modern. The building we were in has not been fully renovated, though the room was fairly modern. We were in a 3 story walk-up (top floor) which was fine for us and our level of mobility, but would present struggles for some. When we took the first step into the stairwell, I won't lie, I was like "what have I done?!", as it could REALLY use some love (dingy carpet, dusty, etc.). But then when we got to our room, I was pleasantly surprised. It had a main living room with a wet bar-like area with a small fridge and microwave. There was a dining table for 4 (though we only ever used it to collect stuff... much like at home!) and a pull-out sofa and coffee table. There was a TV in that room as well. Off that room was a balcony. We were in 301 and ours overlooked the parking lot/street, with minimal views of Diamond Head and the park across the street. I actually didn't mind this at all. The people watching was great!!! BUT, if you're looking for that ocean view or an ultra-quiet getaway, I'd suggest staying in the main building. Though there were some stains on the carpet, overall the room was lovely. Plenty of space, an updated bathroom with both a tub/shower combo AND a stand-up shower, dual sinks in the bathroom, modern paint colors, etc. The furniture was a little outdated, but nothing awful. The bed was SO comfortable and so were the pillows!! I think this is a fabulous room for a family of 3 or 4, as the parents can have a private room and the kids can have the pull out couch in the living room. One unexpected perk of this place, it has a laundromat on-site. So we literally did all of our laundry while sitting on the balcony having a drink the night before we flew to another island! It was PERFECT, as we were planning to seek out a laundromat. I read a lot of complaints about the location, but we actually really enjoyed it. It's at the end of Waikiki, close to Diamond Head, so WAY less crowded and chaotic than in the center of Waikiki. It was really cool to see more of the local activity than tourist activity, and we even stumbled upon an impromptu fire-throwing party in the park one evening (which was very cool!). There is a beautiful park nearby that gets used a LOT, which is great to see. There's a small aquarium down the street that we visited and for such a small place, it was really great! We did walk into Waikiki one night and it's really not a bad walk. My experience at this hotel was not overly resort-y. It was a great hotel for what we needed... a place to sleep at night. It was clean and functional and that's mostly what we needed. We spent nearly all day, every day out exploring the island, so it really was just a place to sleep and shower for us. And for that, it was absolutely perfect! I honestly can't tell you if it was a good value or not compared to an AirBnb or some basic chain hotel like Holiday Inn or Hyatt place because we booked it through Costco and I didn't price shop it. I would put our accommodations on par with one of those chain hotels though. I'm not sure I'd refer to any of the property as a resort, just due to lack of amenities. There's NO pool, so if that's important to you, I'd look elsewhere. The beach was okay. The sand was very coarse, which we weren't used to. I'm told you could use the hotel's chairs, but like I said, we were out exploring the island, so we never had a need for them. There was no bellhop to carry our luggage (even up the 3 flights of stairs! Lol) and overall just lacked the resort vibe. They did have valet parking, which was $40/day. A little steep, but the parking there is limited and they had to sometimes stack them 3 deep to fit everyone, so I understand why self-park isn't an option. They did clean our room every day, which was nice in the post-Covid era. And the bath amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion) were WONDERFUL! I wish I had taken a 2nd tube of the lotion. Overall, if you're looking for a true resort, go elsewhere. But if you're looking for a home base and the price is comparable to (or less than!) another chain or AirBnB, I'd say it's a solid choice . It was nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible either.
