We had our company planning retreat here. Everything about the environment, the staff, the facilities and the amenities were top notch. It was the perfect location to escape the craziness of the day-to-day and focus on the company. I would highly recommend for business or pleasure!

We loved our stay at The Inn. The property is so unique with green space all around. The room was spacious and bed was comfortable. A woodburning fireplace is available, but we did not use it. We enjoyed our walk along the path to the Middleton Plantation the first evening and again the next morning (admission to the plantation is included with your stay). The morning breakfast is amazing. The room has large windows that overlook a pond. So many choices of food and beverage. We enjoyed the welcome reception in the Lodge and returned later for live music during the evening “night cap”.

The Inn was wonderful, it has a quiet, unplugged vibe that we really enjoyed and felt helped us relax as well as explore the history of the plantation better. Rooms were clean, beds comfy, and the breakfast was perfect. Admission to the Middleton Place is included, which meant we were able to get to the plantation early with only a leisurely morning walk. The evening night cap was great and a huge perk as well.

A good friend, my wife, and I stayed in two rooms at this inn one Monday night at the end of our 3-day visit to Charleston. The rooms here are very nice, spacious, and well appointed, and the mattress in our room was pretty good. Our room had an odd smell that we could not identify, although no such smell appeared in our friend's room, so it likely was something used in cleaning or the air freshener used in our room only. The shower controls were a bit complex; I never figured out how to get both shower heads to operate. All things considered, I gave the room a 4. Staying a night here includes admission for two to the nearby historic plantation, Middleton Place. "Nearby" means a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute lovely walk. Breakfast is also included in one's stay, and it is a *very* nice Southern breakfast served in a wonderful dining room. The nightly room rate was $258.03, including taxes, but excluding the cash tip left for housekeeping the next morning. Admission to Middleton Place (reviewed separately here on TA) is $29 per person, so that reduces the cost of our room to around $200/night. The quality of the breakfast, which was MUCH higher than most places offer, probably accounts for at least $25 of value, so that makes the nightly rate around $175/night, which, though dear, seemed good to us. So value gets a 4. Location is a bit out of town in West Charleston down a charming two-lane country road, so it is a 30-minute drive outside the historic district. If the on-site restaurant is closed (as it was the night we were there), it can be a bit of a drive to get to a restaurant for dinner (we drove 20 miles each way!) That said, if one chooses to visit Middleton Place, putting up here for the night seems a good way to combine overnighting with admission. We gave location either a 3 (not visiting the plantation) or 5 (visiting it). Let's call that a 4. The included breakfast was particularly good, so it gets a 5. The grounds here are absolutely lovely; the ambiance is, therefore, certainly a 5. Staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and nice, although they had a bit of trouble and initially charged both rooms to me, even though we gave them separate credit cards at check-in Monday night. So, they got a 4. All together, we rate this place as a strong 4. We'd recommend it, particularly for a romantic weekend.
