We've been going to the Warwick at least once a year for a decade. Never disappointed. First-class without being pretentious. The front desk, the reservations dept., cleaning staff, the waiters and bartenders at the Randolph bar all are competent and cordial. Its location -- close to the park, Fifth Avenue and the theater district -- is of course a big plus. Never tried the restaurant there. May have been closed when we there. Btw, always take the city view rooms.

We've stayed at the Warwick a few times around  Christmas. Here are the pros and cons of this hotel. Pros: Great location, centrally located, near theaters, restaurants, Central Park, Rock Center; courteous housekeeping staff; clean and quiet; very roomy suites; efficient valet service.  Cons: The shower drains poorly. After a quick shower there was at least four inches of standing water. There was no soap in our bathroom, just shower gel. When rooms aren't ready ahead of the 3 pm check in, the staff tries to 'upsell': saying they'll make the room ready sooner for an additional $100. Last year, you could get checked in when the room was ready, which could be as early as 1 or 2 pm. Making everyone wait until 3 pm results in much crowding the lobby, which is small, with not much seating. At 3 pm, everyone rushes to the desk and there's a long line. Seems that this could be managed better. Also, they charge $2 per bag to hold your bags if the room's not ready. We've never seen that at other hotels we've stayed in. So while we like the location and convenience of the hotel, and the cons aren't terrible, they do affect one's perception of the hotel as being welcoming and high-quality.

I liked the Warwick hotel based on its location, especially during the holiday season but probably will choose another hotel next trip to the city. This is because they charge you for everything. $2 per bag to store your luggage while we waited for our room to be ready(we were only a half hour early). Another $2 per luggage to hold our luggage for a couple extra hours after we checked out. They have no gift shop so you need to run down the block to get any snacks or essentials. Also, I asked for a bottle of water and the front desk explained they didn’t have any but why not have a water station then? The bathroom was very outdated and could use some tlc. The bed was comfortable and the room was average size. After all the additional fees, taxes and valet, I’m not sure it’s worth $600 a night.
