A Hilton this is NOT. Actually, in so many ways, a good thing. If you like a touch of history and a yesteryear aesthetic, quaint and quirky, chill and friendly, and aren’t turned off by old and creaky, AND you can handle the pricing of right location… this hotel is conveniently located in Chelsea, features a nice little coffee shop, and has vintage character and feel. My accommodation was a smaller room with a comfy bed, antique cabinet, desk, and lamps, and nice little bath-shower, all clean and functional. The window unit A/C was very adequate, thankfully, as outside was sunny and hot for mid-June. I enjoyed a spritzer outdoors in their enclosed outdoor garden space on late afternoon arrival, and a perfect cappuccino my next morning… lovely and relaxed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, as I needed some assistance puzzling out the operation of the old lift (elevator)… no worries, a quick “tutorial” got me situated in my room on the 4th floor… quaint, and quiet, easily adjusted for light/dark (curtains and drapes)… one can imagine a day when guests penned letters or postcards on the writing desk… today, a flat screen smart TV and cable (though in the heart of Manhattan, who really needs it?). Admittedly, it’s a pricey indulgence for less than state-of-the-art digs, yet comfortable, sufficient for a relaxed two night stay. Loved it.

If you’re looking for a unique experience with plenty of history this is the place. The rooms are furnished with antiques with the exception of the bed which was very comfortable. If you’re looking for a unique experience with plenty of history this is the place. The rooms are furnished with antiques with the exception of the bed which was very comfortable. The lobby is ideal for meeting other guests you’re gathering with for coffees in the morning while the outside courtyard is a beautiful spot for evening drinks. (Beware of the drop in the walk in the center- we had a couple near falls and one complete tuck and roll which thankfully didn’t result in a bad injury.)

“Nice hotel but not great value”

This hotel is very aesthetically pleasing, built in an old seminary, and has some very nice touches, like comfortable beds. The location cannot be beat (high line, little island, Hudson River park, lots of good food). But it has a number of quirks due to being old, and it lacks amenities most of us have come to expect from hotels. For the price I think you can get a lot more somewhere else.

“NOT a 4-star”

If beat up antique furniture is your vibe, then this is the place for you! Everything was quite clean, but the musty smell, especially in the armoire, was unacceptable. Tiny check-in area. Lovely patio to kill time until check-in. Lower level windows, however, are right at patio guests' eye level... more

“Very disappointing experience.”

I was very surprised ( and not in a good way) by my stay at this hotel. For a room that cost over $600 a night, the amenities were very stingy. One towel per person. I was very surprised ( and not in a good way) by my stay at this hotel. For a room that cost over $600 a night, the amenities were very stingy. One towel per person. The floor of the bedroom was dusty. The bathroom had an old single paned glass window that did nothing to block out the noise. So were heard the people partying on the street below and could smell cigarette smoke drifting up. The room faced 10th ave, and we could hear the trucks and honking horns. And significantly, the room was hot. We couldn't adjust the HVAC system to cool it at all. It blew warm air all night and the system was noisy! A complimentary cup of coffee would have been nice for a room that cost as much as this one did. I would never recommend this hotel
