Check in was smooth and easy considering we arrived after 9pm. There is a tax chargeable upon check in but you are able to spend some dollars in at reception each day which is handy after a long day exploring! Rooms are clean and spacious and the area on Lexington Ave is quiet but central to a variety of landmarks. We would 100% return and recommend for a short NYC trip.

I stayed here two nights with my spouse, her sister, and teenage niece. We booked a room with two queen beds and an "urban kitchen," then bid for an upgrade with a balcony. To my surprise, the hotel gave us a complimentary upgrade to a one bedroom apartment, with kitchen, living room, balcony, and bedroom with two queen beds. It was huge, and so great for our group! We all enjoyed the narrow balcony even more than I thought; on a hot August day it was really comfortable with nice breezes and a cool view from the 21st floor. The apartment gave us all a lot more privacy than one room would have, and the kitchen was really handy for drinks, snacks, fruit, etc. Honestly, I'm not sure how well we all would have done in our original room! Not all that many hotels in NYC have kitchens or suites like this, so I highly recommend this. The one downside was that the apartment had a slightly musty smell (we noticed a fan going in the hallway), and we aired it out a bit by opening windows and the door to the balcony. The bathroom was very clean, but a bit tired and could use a refresh; the shower was a bit wimpy and the sink was just slightly sluggish. But overall, I was very pleased with our stay and I felt it was a good value for NYC, even without the upgrade. The neighborhood is very safe and close to the subway, and I found the staff to be very pleasant.

“NOISY ROOM”

We were given a room on the 4th floor on 3rd Avenue, the room was large but the tv was on the east wall from the bed so NO WAY could you watch it in bed without breaking your neck! We were given a room on the 4th floor on 3rd Avenue, the room was large but the tv was on the east wall from the bed so NO WAY could you watch it in bed without breaking your neck! THE WORST thing was the NOISE, it was like trying to sleep in a TENT! The windows had large gaps and were defiantly NOT double glassed. We HAD to change room and the only room was on the 3rd floor on the street side which was like chalk & cheese, so we had a good night sleep. Staff were brilliant and bed & pillows were good. We know any city is noisy and it was our 3rd time in NY. Don't think we'll came back a gain unless we do another cruise.

“Comfortable Hotel - Welcome reception needs attention”

The check in time of 4pm proved more awkward than anticipated as we have always been able to freshen up at every other hotel we have used previously. The check in time of 4pm proved more awkward than anticipated as we have always been able to freshen up at every other hotel we have used previously. We arrived at lunchtime having travelled in the unprecedented heat - we were given a key at reception to change in the first floor toilet!! Not the best first impression - only to later be told by a very friendly doorman (Romeo) that we could have used a room!! The hotel rooms were clean and tidy if not a little dated with very comfy beds - the first impressions of the lobby were not the best as it needed a good vacuum and dust - especially around the feet of the metal statues. The ice cold water was often empty with a distinct lack of cups - these are all things that can be easily rectified but this hotel needs to up it's game in the 'customer service' steaks!!!
