Received a Suite Night upgrade to a two-room suite with a sofa, separate TV, fridge, and microwave. Other platinum Bonvoy benefits included late checkout (I used a post-it-note to remind housekeeping about that on my last day), free breakfast for two in the basic dining area in the basement, and access to the lounge, which had sodas/coffee/chips. The king-size bed had heavenly sheets and big, fluffy pillows, and the A/C kept the room as cold as we wanted it. The bathroom included a long, roomy vanity so that there was plenty of space for our stuff. Gilcrest & Soames products were good. Plumbing was flawless. I thought the tub was slow to drain but realized I hadn't opened the lever all the way; once I did that, everything drained fine. Four elevators were just right for this size hotel. The rooms, lobby, and overall size are not as spacious as at the huge convention-style Marriott nearby (which now charges a "resort" fee!), and there is very, very light wear and tear on some of the tilework etc., but this smaller cousin (Sheraton) provided great service and great sleep throughout our stay, with a well-designed room that had space for our needs. It's sad that both of those hotels have closed their pools, but nothing is as grand as those original days when those hotels were built in the early 2000's. There is some street noise at night, but I always bring a small white nose machine on trips to NYC. After reading the one-star reviews, I almost canceled, and I'm very glad I stuck with the decision to try the Brooklyn Sheraton. I have had no problem with the billing/credit card charge, which was exactly as shown on the reservation; I can't say what the posts regarding security deposits were about but those seem to be connected to using a debit card or actual bank account. I only travel using a credit card so that I have never been liable for incorrect charges, but everything was fine with this experience; the pre-authorization was clearly labeled that way, not as the actual amount changed when I checked out. Housekeeping checked and doublechecked to see if we needed anything. It's near a half-dozen subway lines (including the A from JFK) and it's just two blocks from the world's best diner (Junior's), with a beautiful new park across the street on Duffield.
