We stayed for a couple of days during the first week of the Tribeca film festival. Such a great location, very clean, but the true 5-star experience was delivered by the staff. Andrew, in the lobby, always with a smile and five steps ahead of us, making sure our comings and goings were punctuated with a welcome back and a see you later. The staff at breakfast ensuring the offerings were abundant and the coffee was flowing. One of the front office managers, without even me asking, rushing outside to flag down a taxi when he saw that I have mobility issues, and pointing out a place where I could lean while I waited for the taxi to pull up. We live in a time when care seems to be focused on the self, rather than the community, but not at the Hotel Giraffe. The staff has been trained in the essentials of care, of service, of anticipating the needs of the guest. A rarity! A last small anecdote. The owner of the Giraffe Hotel is Henry Kallan. He owns several 5-star hotels. Back in the late 70s, when I was managing the Drake Hotel for Loews, Henry was also managing for Loews, over at the Warwick. Small world!

“Short City Break”

Lovely hotel, friendly and efficient staff, with a great customer service approach. Large rooms that were spotlessly clean and super comfy bed - we slept well. Lovely hotel, friendly and efficient staff, with a great customer service approach. Large rooms that were spotlessly clean and super comfy bed - we slept well. Continental buffet breakfast was nice with fresh water, coffee and snacks, available all day. Bags held for early check-in and late check-out. Located in a really nice area with many parts of the city walkable from here and anything else easily navigated vis the subway. The only minor drawback was our room window looked directly into office space in the building opposite, so we felt we had to keep the blinds drawn, but not a huge problem as we were out all day anyway. We would come back.

“first visit”

what a pleasant suprise this hotel was. large rooms with everything you need apart from a coffee maker perhaps. buffet breakfast with cereal. toast.bagels and coffee etc. all the staff were excellent and were friendley and welcoming. if we go back to new york we will be staying here.

This was our 4th or 5th time staying here, and it was as enjoyable and comfortable as always. The front staff is always friendly and very helpful. A nice continental breakfast and more friendly staff to assist you. We get the room with a queen size bed, and ours had the Juliet balcony (ours overlooked 26th St). It's a wonderful location (just a couple blocks from the 6 subway), and easy to get to Penn and Grand Central stations. We look forward to another visit at the end of the year!
