As a family guy from the west (Arizona) who had never been to NYC I can say this hotel more than met our needs for a one week vacation. In fact it was perfect for our needs. Initially I was somewhat surprised by the square footage of the rooms but as time passed I got used to it and realized what a small amount of time we actually spent in the room and that the rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed and were up to or exceeding Hilton Double Tree standards. Two things made it perfect for us: The location and The staff. As many others have mentioned this location is within walking distance of all the major attractions a tourist would want to visit. I won't list them all here but for us it was awesome to walk to Times Square, see a Broadway show, take in a game at Madison Square Garden, visit Reckefeller Center and the Empire State building as well as browsing the stores in the garment district such as Macy's flagship store all without needing any public transportation. As for the staff, what can I say? They were fantastic, due to only having two elevators (a frequent complaint in some of the reviews I've seen but a minor inconvenience in my experience) often times the staff would ride the elevators with the guests and while they were very professional, they always (almost without fail) greeted us with a kind word and a smile everytime we crossed paths. All our requests to the front desk were addressed promptly mainly extra towels and toiletries for our family of five. But most deserving of special praise was Mark at the front desk. He really went the extra mile to take care of us, from a smooth check-in where he held our bags for us until two adjoining rooms were available to directing us to the nearest drugstore, to calming our fears and giving us directions on how to ride the subway which we did use to go to the World Trade Center, 9/11 Memorial and Statue of Liberty. In addition he never failed to greet my wife and I, by name, every time we saw him. He is simply a pros pro when it comes to front desk decorum. In conclusion, despite some physical limitations (smaller rooms, limited elevators, and a merely adequate bar/restaurant) this hotel more than met our needs and in fact greatly contributed to one of our best vacations ever.
