As soon as I stepped out of the taxi I knew that this would be a great place to stay. Located in a more residential part of the city there are some great local cafes, restuarants and bars and the Subway is close and only a few stops from Times Square/Grand Central etc. Willie, the night manager greeted me like an old friend and, indeed, we bacame friends over the next few days with his recommendations, greetings and helpfulness. The hotel does not have a breakfast room which didn't concern me but might be a drawback for some. A bar was something else I was expecting, however Willie directed me to a fabulous local hostelry which was even better and just as welcoming. Rooms are comfortable and airconditioned with a microwave, minibar and bathroom with tub and shower. The decor is now very tired but still 100% functional (that is the only reason I have given 4 and not 5 star). There is a basement gym and laundry which I didn't visit on this trip.

Early in the morning he was interested in the reason for our stance which was our daughter graduating from Fordham Law School and congratulate us for the graduation.

I rarely give 3 stars. And I rarely stay at a property that’s rated less than 4 stars. But, there’s not a lot of options in the area so I tried. Pros: —great location. —A yellow cab is usually sitting in front. —On June 12 in the afternoon and evening, the front desk staff was welcoming and helpful. —Near enough restaurants and market. —Safe (but be wary anyway) and you need a card to use elevator. —quiet enough for a city location. —room temperature pretty steady throughput night. —they have valet parking you manage via a lobby kiosk. Cons: —the room door doesn’t close unless you’re attentive and firm. —you easily hear next room’s door’s loud activity to the point where you think it’s your own door. —check the mattress pad! We did by accident and saw other people’s hair. —you can’t call down for valet to get car; you have to go to kiosk and wait up to 45 minutes. Or as little as 15/20. We were not apprised of this critical info upon check-in. —On June 13 early-mid afternoon, front desk staff was icy and snippy. These fixable negatives were enough to lose 2 stars in my esteem.
