The location of this hotel is PERFECT for us. It is close to Canal Street, yet far enough so it is very quiet and free of the crowds and homeless people on Canal. We walked to Bourbon Street often, walked to the WWII War Museum, walked to the river front area. We felt safe even walking in the evenings, but as in any urban city, just need to be cautious and vigilant. We also took the bus and streetcars, hotel is located close to several stops. You will have so many choices when it comes to restaurants, cafes, shops, bars etc etc. Elevators at the hotel are fast and plenty. During our stay they did have maintenance activities, so during peak time the guests did have to wait a bit longer. The staff is this hotel's best asset. While it does not have the impressive grand lobby, the public space is adequate. The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. A special thanks for the concierge, Yvette, she was stellar at booking tours for us and providing helpful local information. You can tell the management truly cared about customer service. We found everyone to be pleasant and friendly: housekeeping, front doorman, service/maintenance staff. We also dined at the adjacent Tackle Box several times during our week long stay (separate review). We often brought drinks back to our room to relax. It was super convenient. As for our hotel room, we stayed at the executive level (complimentary upgrade due to our elite status). It was located next to the vending room, so very very quiet. The room is very spacious, huge closet and bathroom space. It was very clean and with plenty of towels. The big screen TV was great! It did have a small refrigerator, no microwave but we did ok without one. We had access to their "hospitality room" for complimentary bottled water, various snacks, apples, and a self service espresso and coffee drinks machine. That was wonderful. We also got $15 pp for each night stayed, to be used for anything at the hotel (including the Tackle Box restaurant). The room rate was surprisingly affordable, until the weekend due to a Saints game and Tulane's homecoming weekend. Items that can be improved: the décor is a bit outdated. The windows and building exterior can sure get a face lift and fresh coat of paint. In our large hotel room, it would have been nice to have a dresser to empty out our suitcases. Dresser could be in the same space as where the long desk is located.

Two couples visited the Renaissance Hotel in New Orleans and we loved it! From the time we walked in the door, the staff made us feel so special. The rooms were spotless and clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We were able to use the hospitality room which offered soft drinks, water and different snacks each day. The location was perfect, close to the French Quarter but far enough away to be in the safe and quiet part of town. We walked to restaurants which was very handy. If you are looking for an excellent seafood restaurant, don't miss Deanie's, which is a couple of blocks away. I would like to give a shout out to two staff members which made us feel so welcome -- Joseph, who worked in the hotel restaurant (superb job) and Glen, who greeted us every day and made us feel so at home! (So friendly, polite and helpful) Thank you Renaissance for hiring such wonderful and caring people!

This is among the friendliest staffs we've exerienced! Really can't say enough about them and their service. The location is good. The furniture in the room is a bit old and could be updated. They had some good music in the lobbly on both Thursday and Friday this week. Wish I wrote down the names!… more
