Bluegreen Vacations Club La Pension is more of a hotel than resort. It's located near the corner of Decatur and Canal Streets just steps from the street cars and garden district bus line. A few steps northwest on Canal and you're at the corner of Canal and St. Charles, where the streetcar runs along St. Charles where there are beautiful mansions and fun shopping districts. Walking southeast on Canal from Decatur takes you to the casino and the Mississippi River. There's so much to do, withing walking distance, that you don't need a car. The resort has no parking and long-term street parking is extremely limited. Parking garages charge $40 to $50 per day. La Pension has a sister resort six blocks to the northwest, along Canal to Elk Place (Basin Street). At the time we were there, they were offering free parking for the week in exchange for attending one of their sales presentations. I took them up on the offer and spent a pleasant two hours chatting with a lovely young lady (whose name, unfortunately, is Katrina!) who showed me the resort (called The Marquis) and ran me through the sales presentation. She knew I wasn't going to buy another timeshare and didn't get too far into the hard sell that they do at the end of those presentations, so it was relatively painless. I scheduled my meeting for 9:00AM and it was over by 11:00, time for brunch and food is why one goes to New Orleans!

“Unique property, best location”

We stayed in a 1 bedroom for one week during Hurricane Francine. The property did everything to prepare us for the upcoming storm. The location is walking distance to restaurants,casinos and tourist attractions. Located on the edge of the French Quarter, just round the corner and you have public transportation. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had the basics of microwave and small refrigerator. The decor was very "New Orleans". We would happily return to this property.

I do not know where to begin because I had such a great experience from the moment I stepped into the small, elegant, uniquely styled lobby. Very intimate. Check in was a breeze. Charmaine was friendly, knowledgeable and personable. I checked in alone although some family members were staying at the hotel also. Charmaine made certain I had a great room. I loved my room. It felt like the room was made specifically for the French Quarter with all the very artistic pieces. It was very clean and had nice plates, silverware, wine glasses,etc, along with all your basic kitchen appliances. I had a one bedroom, living room, kitchen and bath, with a balcony right off Duval Street. Perfect location. I could sit and watch the people walking down Canal Street. This was the perfect location, one block to the casino, a few blocks to Bourbon street, down the block to Cafe Du Monde, a few blocks to the river and all the restaurants and bars you can imagine. I spent part of the trip alone when my relatives left and I felt completely safe. The employees got to know me and acknowledged me every time I saw them and that makes all the difference. Kudos to the security, maintenance and all the staff. Definitely will recommend. The only place I will book when staying in New Orleans.

Great location. Rooms are nice but the people behind the front desk have an attitude. It seemed like no matter who was behind the check-in desk, they all were grumpy. The room was quite nice though. We did go to the sun deck however, it should be called the smoking deck. Everyone there was smoking so you could hardly breathe let alone enjoy the deck. I don't think smoking should be allowed up here.
