We arrived just in time for two days of non-stop rain and wind. So we chilled in the comfortable room and patiently waited for the sun to come out. The next five days were perfect for beach outings. The beaches in Naples are numerous, and are a short drive away. There is also a complimentary daily shuttle for guests to go to a nearby beach. We have Hilton Honors status, so there was a daily $30 food and beverage credit ($15 per person/max 2 people). There was also a promotion of a $50-a-day food and beverage credit. So we enjoyed $80-a-day dining at Shula’s restaurant. (PS: It does not take long to spend $80 at Shula’s!) There is a small on-site mart with misc food, beverage (including alcohol) and sundry items. There is a small selection of microwaveable food and a microwave in the food mart. It is my understanding the $15 per person, per day Hilton Honors credit can be applied to purchases in the mini-mart. We needed to scan a QR code in our room to view information regarding the hotel, such as the menu. There were a few things that could have been made more clear, such as what time certain food items could and could not be ordered for room service and what the room service fee would be. I wasn’t crazy about the dark-stained wood throughout Shula’s Restaurant. It felt dated—-like a old gentleman’s after-dinner retreat. The winged and soft-bottom chairs at the tables in the bar-area made me feel like a small child when I sat in them—-not comfortable. The chairs in the other area—-the dining room—-were more comfortable for me. It was hit-or-miss with a few employees in the restaurant, but we did appreciate the friendliness and professionalism of at least four (a regular hostess, two waiters and one waitress in Shula’s—-one of whom had just been working at Shula’s for five days). The food was good. We especially liked the French onion soup, the wedge salad and the bread. Our last night of dining at Shula’s, the waiter brought out vinegar and olive oil for dipping the complementary bread. (I wish we’d have been given that option the other times we dined there.) The room was large and comfortable. The a/c was wonderfully cold. There was a safe, which we used. Black-out curtains did the job of keeping the sun out. For the most part, the room was very quiet. If someone nearby closed the door to their room, it could be heard in our room, as well as talking in the hall near our door—but that did not happen often. (I always use a white-noise app on my cell phone at night when staying at hotels.) Appreciated the Keurig coffee maker in the room, and would have brought a few pods of my own coffee had I realized the room had a Keurig. Two “Green Mountain” coffee pods and one tea pod were provided daily. Two bottles of water were also provided daily, and we could get more bottled water at the front desk any time we asked. Appreciated having a small fridge for left-overs and to chill our water and wine. Maid service was excellent. If I stay there again, I’ll ask for a pillow that is not so soft. The six pillows that were provided were all soft. Husband said he’d have liked the room to have a balcony to sit on and have a glass of wine in the p.m., but we knew when we booked there were no balconies. (The location does not lend itself to having great balcony views, which is probably why there are none.) I didn’t realize until day three of our vacation that there are built-in cell phone charging ports on the side of the end table facing the mattress. The TV was large and the picture quality was good. The king-sized mattress was firm and just as comfortable as my pricy name-brand mattress at home. The pool area was so/so. No cushy pads on the lounge chairs, and mosquitos in the mulched beds by the pool. (Of course, this was after the rains, so conditions were right for the mosquitos to be out.) There is a “no food or drinks” sign in the pool area. The view from the pool is underwhelming. We were there for the local beaches; so those are just my personal observations. There was only one handicapped self-parking space outside and to the side of the Hilton; but I assume there were more in the parking garage. We did not park in the garage while there. We appreciated the complementary beach chairs. We also enjoyed a complimentary “U.S.A. Today” newspaper every day. The elevators seem to need some maintenance. At times, they would make noises, and could be less-than-smooth and slow. I don’t know when the Hilton was built, but it has (for the most part) been beautifully maintained and updated. I would definitely consider staying at the Hilton Naples again, especially for the price I paid and the (total) $80-a-day food and beverage credit. (I have a feeling the $50-a-day food/beverage credit/promotion is just a temporary offer, however.) If you do get the promotion, be sure it is credited each night to your bill, as it has to be entered manually, and upon check-out, one night had not been credited. (We pointed that out, and it was immediately credited.) We left feeling very relaxed/rested. Thank you Hilton Naples!
