“Nice place to stay ”

Nice quiet convenient location close to Wilshire and museums. Walking distance to Farmers Market and The Grove. Simple breakfast daily with coffee, juice, fruit, muffins and yogurt. Street parking only. Large rooms with coffee maker and fridge.

Clean and lovely establishment. Found by searching on line. In walking distance of the tar pits. Great place that has on street parking. Great for a 2 day stay. Included a breakfast. Nice family owned and accommodating. We highly recommend for any stay.

We drove to Los Angeles for a short anniversary getaway. Our plans were major museums in west central LA, and wanted to stay in walking distance. Found the Wilshire Crescent. Very good room rate, free street parking, very comfortable, and light breakfast included. If you are looking for the upscale, major chain hotel experience, this isn’t it, but we had no complaints. It’s a smaller, friendly, family owned hotel. The room was good sized, kept up well, serviced each day. Even though parking was street parking via daily permits provided by the hotel, we had no problem finding a parking space near the hotel. It also beat $45 per night parking at the larger hotels and made our trip more affordable. The best part is being within short walking distance to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Petersen Automotive museum (fabulous!), La Brea Tar Pits/History Museum, Holocaust Museum, etc. it was a short drive to the Getty Museum. There is a wide variety of restaurants, types, prices, dine in fancy or sit outdoors less formal, also within walking distance, mostly north about 10-15 minutes along 3rd St. We also really enjoyed a bit of an upscale tapas Spanish dinner at nearby La Paella on San Vincente Blvd. Our experience was excellent. Per other reviews, breakfast is light, mostly packaged pastries, ready to mix oatmeal, yogurt, coffee, but adequate to start the day. Also, per reviews, the street noise on the east if your room faces Crescent Heights Blvd, might be a bit much; our room faced an inner court yard and was fine.

The Wilshire Crest is an interesting hotel, with a varied clientele - which might be described as "mostly back-packers." There is no elevator for guests, so ensure when you book that you have a room on the main floor! The bed had a night table on one side, nothing on the other. In our toom the toilet and tub/shower (which had no grab bars) were enclosed, with a door.; the sink, which had very little space for personal items, directly faced the bed, and the bright light could not be evaded! There was a good set of drawers; other furnishings were a small round glass table and two armless chairs. For relaxed reading or conversation there were two sofas near the breakfast room. Breakfast consisted of coffee or tea, some juice in cartons, and packaged items such as cereal bars. There is no parking lot, and guests who have cars are given parking permits to enable them to find parking spaces on the nearby streets, which may not be very close!
