+ The hotel is placed in Little Tokio - japanese part of the city, close to restaurants and shops with an area safe for walking - as far as we saw. It includes a bakery so eating fresh breakfast was not an issue. Staff is friendly and helpfull (e.g we requested an additional bed which was solved on the spot) Rooms are clean, towels are changed whenever is needed. If you do not wish to use the hotel parking, it can be used the LittleTokio public parking which is in the nearby building (during our stay was 30eur/day). The amount taken on hotel was as stated on booking (+250usd deposit) with NO other hidden taxes. - The payment to the hotel (the money were blocked when we arrived and taken a second time when we left. I had to make a request to my bank to return one of the payments) Although some hotels are practicing this, it can be a problem for your vacation if you do not have double the money. I do not know why the hotel does not takes the money from initial payment.

“Good Stay in LA.”

Great hotel in Little Tokyo, one of the better parts of Los Angeles. Easy check-in and a good sized room, very quiet, comfy bed, good shower. Plenty of restaurants nearby and close to the LA Metro. Nice little coffee shop as well, they do a great mocha.

I was planning a staycation in the Little Tokyo and northern Arts District areas of Los Angeles and stayed here for the first time. It's a very well-located property that's minimalist but clean and well-maintained. There aren't many hotels in this area; probably the main one is the Doubletree by Hilton that's 2 blocks away. Miyako is adjacent to the block-long pedestrian-only Japanese Village Plaza, perhaps the epicentre of LIttle Tokyo, along with Weller Court a block away. The northern part of the Arts District, with its well-regarded restaurants, is about 3 blocks away. The Miyako is perhaps now best known as the hotel with the superstar LA Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani mural on the side. Look for a QR code located in several spots to see Shohei take a swing with his bat. Looking at the front of the hotel, one can easily see the higher-floor rooms are larger. All rooms have a mini-fridge, coffee maker and Japanese-style toilet. My room was clean and comfortable, facing north with views of City Hall, multiple ramen restaurants and the Japanese American National Museum. The hotel has a fitness centre and self-serve laundromat. There's a cute bakery/café on the ground level that serves Instagrammable sweet and savory treats. There's also a mini-market with microwaves, hot water and self-check-out. On the 2nd floor is a sit-down Japanese restaurant/sushi bar and a cocktail/karaoke lounge. The restaurant has a daily breakfast buffet for around $28 with Japanese and Western offerings. Overall a great stay. I've previously stayed at the Hilton, which is of course the hotel of choice for Hilton Honors members. But it's larger and more generic, with little Japanese ambience, aside from their Kyoto Garden rooftop, a vestige of when the hotel was the New Otani with its Thousand Cranes restaurant that overlooked the garden. The Miyako definitely has a more Japanese vibe, plus a slightly better location.

Check-in was okay. No greeting from older Asian man that checked us in. He didn’t represent Japanese hotel at all. Check-in was okay. No greeting from older Asian man that checked us in. He didn’t represent Japanese hotel at all. Normally Japanese always gives excellent service but not from this man, little disappointed. The room was big and the bed was very comfortable. Also I noticed, the Spanish workers only greeted me and my kids because we lock Asian but not my wife. She’s Asian but looks Spanish because she had her eyes done. They totally ignored her. Next time we will stay somewhere else.
