This classic hotel combines historic elegance with amazing service and modern conveniences. The rooms are large and kept well up to date. The history is fascinating. The bar is amazing. Highly recommend for anyone staying in downtown Los Angeles.

I knew from the outset this was more of a classic style hotel and that rooms would be on the more old fashioned side. I didn't mind that and overall enjoyed the stay. The biggest issue was communication with the hotel before arrival and during the stay. I had a couple of different reservations (1 for 2 nights, 1 for 1 night) so wanted to make sure to connect them so we wouldn't have to switch for the final night. I called the front desk a week or so before arrival and that was sort of okay although still wasn't fully convinced that everything would be straightforward on arrival. I had a couple of other questions so emailed the hotel - responses were just a couple of words and a some emails went totally unanswered. Upon arriving it was as if we'd never spoken to the hotel at all and a lot of confusion on the rate and room type. Fortunately we didn't have to switch rooms but also didn't get what was promised in the advertised rate. The first reservation was for a basic room so we paid $50 + taxes per night to upgrade to a suite. The second reservation was already for the suite. Among other things the "My Suite Millennium Life" rate was supposed to include: Welcome card on arrival $20 FNB Credit per stay In-Suite Welcome Amenities – fruit with bottled water Early check-in / 2pm late check out subject to availability Enjoy access to The Club Lounge We might have had a FNB credit (unused) but the rest were mysteriously absent. When we got the room re-keyed for the final night the desk clerk asked me about the Club Lounge and wanted to charge me $30 to access - I declined (it was supposed to be included). Looking at my final folio they also charged me $30 for a late checkout which was clearly also supposed to be included. Clearly this also hadn't been communicated to housekeeping who just let themselves into the room on two days straight while we were still in there! I can't reconcile the pending charges on my credit card at all to what should have been billed so will wait for them to post and then look into getting them resolved. Overall the whole experience felt very disorganized and nickel and dimey. If you stay here check your bill carefully. The doormen and other people around the hotel were really nice but the front desk team was perhaps the worst I've experienced. Similarly, the Millennium website and loyalty program seem super flaky and confusing with too many different rates and supposed perks. The property itself is nice if you like that classic style, but I probably wouldn't stay here again just because of the sheer amount of effort involved in getting what was promised.
