I’ve been coming before the renovation. While I sometimes miss the original charm, this place still finds away to take me away and not feel like I’m in the heart of DTLA. Pros:Karen and the rest of the front desk staff was amazing and on short notice was able to accommodate a request to surprise my wife with a little something in the room when we got there. The valet drivers are always pleasant and also charge our car for us which is a nice touch. This is our first time staying in the Casablanca Suite and it was very nice. Bed was comfy. Decor and pool are just a vibe here! Just an idea, I know there’s a channel with brief story of the hotel would be cool if there was dedicated channel to the history of DTLA and the hotel. I love looking at the old images of the decor and layout. Would be nice to have some kind of narration show or something that is a bit more of deep dive. I was lucky enough to stay more than a few times back in the day where you were given a key for your room. Cons: I know it’s an old hotel and some of these are out of control but it’s important to know. We have stayed in about every type of room here and this one had one of the loudest pipes of running water, air or something from all the rooms we’ve stayed in. I know it’s old and old hotels make weirder noises but this one was enough to keep the wife awake. It did smell like pot when we arrived in our room, honestly not a big deal but was nervous of previous reviews stating they were charged for smoking and didn’t smoke. I brought it to their attention and my concerns and was assured it was noted and would let the manager know. That seemed reasonable to me. I did receive an email the day of regarding potential strike throughout the day. Something to be aware of, it did not happen during our stay. In the Casablanca the tv was not centered and there was an awkward open space, with a place that pays attention to so much detail this seemed odd…maybe put a plant? The tv honestly seemed a bit small for the space as big as it was. Could be the TV snob in me but could be bigger. A lot of these cons were not so much deal breaks for us but just like to know. The chromecast specifically the MAX app would not cast, all apps update, Google said to unplug tv to reset(I was not comfortable doing that, because it’s not my TV). Just an idea, the fridge there do keep things cold, and I appreciate the free water. Would be nice if some of the water in the room was already cold. The water pressure in the attached hose looks nice but it offers very little water pressure. Only two trash cans in the entire room and none under the vanity in bathroom. Service at Cafe Fig was meh, the manager was on top of things which was nice but the servers were a little too distant. Had to ask for water to be refilled and soda.

“Great hotel at a great price!”

Great pool area! Beautiful gardens and hotel decor. Rooms clean and well stocked. Great value and close to some great restaurants!

“Lovely hip, luxe and modern property”

Modern luxe and unique hotel experience. Attention to detail in the decor (bathroom is gorgeous) and amenities. Cozy relax lounge area by the restaurant. The independent yet integrated Café Fig serves delicious cocktails and satisfactory breakfasts.

“Nice hotel but don't stay on the second floor”

I returned to the hotel about 9pm and found a DJ blasting out music on the ground floor bar area. I was on the 2nd floor and couldn't believe how loud it was. It went on until after 11pm. Was that part of my $30/night "Destination Fee"
