We stayed for just one night. We got to town earlier than expected, and although our room was not ready we were allowed to park in the lot which was great since we could walk to many shops and restaurants. Our room was good-sized (one king bed) and the bathroom was enormous with two sinks. The breakfast fare was standard, which was good. We would definitely stay here again.

“A game of 2 halves”

This is a lovely hotel and probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had in the USA. Centrally located in South Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately we had a power cut on day 2 which was no fault of the hotel but meant being thrown into darkness whilst in the shower, a cold breakfast and no Wi-Fi.

“Disappointing experience”

This 'hotel' is a collection of cabin-type rooms spread around a large complex. The cabin blocks are two-storey. Unfortunately, I was not advised at check-in that a lift/elevator was available at the rear of the block and, consequently, had to lug a heavy suitcase up a flight of stairs to my allocated room. The rooms are sizeable and well-equipped. Breakfast is available in the reception block and was okay but nothing to get excited about. The juice dispenser was broken on the two mornings I went for breakfast. On the second night of my stay, I returned from an evening meal at 6.30pm to find a notice stuck to my door - see photo. When I went to reception for further information, I was assured that the notice had been there since 3pm. Whilst not suggesting falsehood on the part of staff, I am utterly convinced that the notice was not there when I left my room about 5pm. I had spent the afternoon in my room, there was a light on whilst I was in there, so it would have been obvious the room was occupied. If the notice was attached at 3pm, why on earth didn't the staff knock on the door and speak to me directly about the coming power cut? I was told by the receptionist, at 6.30pm, that management had decided that any guest who wished to do so could leave the hotel, find alternative accommodation, and would not be charged the night's fee by Holiday Inn. There was no way I was inclined to find another hotel at that time of evening. Whilst action by a power company it outside Holiday Inn's control, I thought this situation was poorly handled by management. By the time the power cut took effect shortly after 8pm, many rooms still had notices stuck to their doors, so a lot of guests must have returned to find the complex in darkness with no warning. I imagine there will have been a lot of annoyed and frustrated people that night. The next morning, no staff made any effort to ask me if I'd faced any challenges during the night or of there was anything I needed.

“Avoid the laundry building.”

This was a strange experience for one of the two days we stayed here. We were in the 300 building, and our room's floor, our furniture, the bed and a fair expanse of the walkway outside our room (which was on the 3rd level) were all vibrating for hours during the day and into the evenings. It took a while to find out that the commercial laundry for the hotel (where the sheets and towels, etc. are washed) was on the first level of this building, and they were using the largest washers and dryers I have ever seen, causing really noticable shaking even on the 3rd level. One of the maintennce guys said they stop doing the laundry at 9 p.m. They did not, so we went to the front desk and asked to be moved, which they did for us the next day. The second room was in a different building, and nothing was shaking. It was actually a much bigger and nicer room, too. My advice is to avoid the 300 building altogether. Other than that, the staff were polite and breakfast was fine.
