“Double-check this hotel’s location and be sure it serves your downtown plans…”

Although advertised as within Miami Downtown –and certainly not at a bad location at all, this property is on the opposite side of where Downtown Miami action takes place. Although advertised as within Miami Downtown –and certainly not at a bad location at all, this property is on the opposite side of where Downtown Miami action takes place. It’s true you can walk to all major attractions and hotspots like Kaseya Center, Perez Arts Museum, Bayside Market, Bayfront Park, and Brickell Center, but it might be a lengthy, tiresome, sweaty walk. So, my advice would be to double-check Hilton Miami Downtown’s location comfortably matches your Downtown plans and do not underestimate the walking distances. Moving on to the property, don’t let the building fool you, it bears its years. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but you’ll notice it. The lobby is 21st century but that’s probably as much as you’ll get. The restaurant, bar, and café scenes are way outdated, deserving so much more in terms of décor, ambiance, and sight. The restaurant feels claustrophobic and unappealing; the bar makes no use of the view, the pool, or the property’s location in the slightest; and the café deserves a full Starbucks (or better) rather than just an automatic coffee machine cornered within the bar. The pool, well, far from whatever Miamian cliché comes to your mind, and again, making no good use of the property’s location and its potential view; the pool could well belong to whatever business class hotel in whatever city. When it comes to the rooms, they also feel outdated in terms of décor and amenities; straight out of the 90’s. Overall, rooms are clean, comfortable, and I must stress this, pleasantly quiet. And, although the view is not perfect, it is certainly appealing, especially those rooms facing the port of Miami, where you get to have a nice vantage port of arriving/departing cruises while also having a glimpse of Downtown Miami. Remember that the higher the floor, the better the view. Finally, service. Special appreciation goes out to the valet guys who got to know us well during our stay, becoming quite friendly, assistive, and intuitively proactive. Regarding front desk staff, they were polite and agile during front desk procedures, but it was hard for them go beyond their duties even if for the tiniest detail, like when being asked about directions or parcels delivered there for me.

“Rooms need updating”

Stayed here one night prior to a cruise. We are Hilton Honors Diamond members so I used HH points to book 3 rooms. Stayed here one night prior to a cruise. We are Hilton Honors Diamond members so I used HH points to book 3 rooms. As a Diamond member we received a $30 food credit, free water bottles and an upgrade to a bay view. The location is great if you will be sailing out of the Port of Miami. We could see the ships docked from our room. The lobby and bar area look like they were recently updated. The elevators are the kind where you touch your floor number outside the elevator and the screen tells you which elevator to take. This was very efficient. Because it was raining and because we had the food credit my group ate in the bar for dinner. There were a lot of cruise groups so it was a fun and lively group. The food was actually above average for a bar with a good variety of food selections. The service was really quick for every table being full and the staff was attentive. The rooms themselves need updating - which is why I gave it 3 stars. They are done in really dark colors - brown, black and deep red. Not what I was expecting from a Miami hotel. The beds were fine, bathrooms good but the colors were just blah and dark. There is a pool and outdoor bar area but because of the weather - thunder and lightning- that area wasn’t open.

Average wait for an elevator is a 1 minute or more. Room had random long hairs all over so guessing cleaning isn’t the best. Bed was clean so that’s a plus. Safe had a low/dead battery. Requested maintenance to change it on multiple times, but they never came. Decent location downtown and close t... more
