I stayed at the Westin for a wedding I was attending at the liberty house , when I got into my room number 2114 it had a very nice view and everything was very clean. The bed was made perfectly with at least 4 pillows on the bed. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great quality. I had a great night sleep, in the morning I met the housekeepers who were smiling and friendly. I was very impressed with the Westin, a couple of workers stand out in my mind whose names were Monica, yuri, Virginia. I would stay at the Westin again if I get a chance.

“Good location to reach NYC”

This hotel is located near the Path Train to NYC. Views of Manhattan are not the greatest, but still OK. Hotel was clean and amenities are good. Rooms were comfortable yet a bit dated. Staff were helpful. I recommend this hotel and will return.

We stayed at the Westin Jersey City Newport after stopping by for a preview around the Fourth of July and meeting the manager on duty. As a Platinum Elite with Marriott Bonvoy and other major chains, I often do this prior to staying at a property just to get a lay of the property and I am so glad we did this as it ended up that I needed that relationship and the information communicated during that tour. Unfortunately, our check in was not to Marriott/Westin standards and should have resulted in a $100 Elite penalty. I will refrain from going into the details in this review because the manager ended up resolving the issues in an honorable fashion. I will just say that the person who checked us in was rude, did not follow established protocol to check in anyone much less an Elite guest, and of my Elite benefits, the only one from which we benefitted was getting breakfast. This is why Marriott/Westin will remain not my first choice when it comes to my 100-plus nights per year in hotels, and it is a shame that the big chains do not see a road warrior's loyalty as a two-way street. The Westin Jersey City Newport has wonderful rooms. I used a suite upgrade for our one-night stay, and the 6th-floor corner suite we were given was beautiful though a further upgrade to a suite on a higher floor would have been appropriate for a person who is an Elite Platinum Bonvoy. The linens were excellent, the A/C consistent, and the suite spacious. The manager did send a nice fruit basket with Evian to assuage things... very honorable man. Breakfast in the restaurant, though exceedingly expensive, was hot and tasted good. We, unlike guests who do not have a breakfast benefit, had an unbeknownst 18% service charge added to our breakfast bill, and with only $30 to offset breakfast, our breakfast bill still was some $30, way too much for an entree and coffee after the benefit of being Platinum, meaning that I spent at least 50 nights at a Marriott property. We had an egg scramble and a hash dish, and I feel resentful that Marriott does not see the loyalty of 50 nights in a year to indicate that after the benefit, I am still fully paying for breakfast. Marriott never pays for a guest's parking, either. Again, the manager at the Westin Newport was honorable and did his best, and my response is in my overall star rating. I do recommend this property and this manager does this Westin ownership a great service by how he handles customer service issues.
