“Very Clean Hotel but I could see the management cutting corners on quality.”

Our family rented three rooms, in floors 1, 3, and 4. I stayed in the room #407. Issues -- 1) Hallways AC were off. I started out with the fresh cloth. The hotel has only one elevator. Waiting takes time. I was sweating. 2) I came back to the hotel about 2AM. One woman was sleeping in front of the Room #406. Later knocking and yelling. I tried to call the front desk but the phone DID NOT have the buttons to press for the front desk. No hotel phone number was readily visible either. I wondered what if any emergency happens? Interestingly. the hotel was locked out for about one or two hours, by the presence of dozen police cars with pistols drawn, and I was prevented from driving into the hotel parking lot by the guarding police woman. Imagine the hotel guests who were trapped in the building and cannot call the front desk to get updates.3) This hotel has no complimentary water nor coffee, outside of the breakfast serving time. Maybe a part of cost saving measure at the expense of hotel guests lacking access to water, especially during the hot summer? 4) As I was checking out of the hotel, I was curious about the clean wipes stationed in front of the counter with Big Hilton Clean Sign. Surely, it had the containers to make believe that clean wipes inside, BUT it was empty. Overall, a great hotel, great staff, but hotel does not want to do extra to make the guests comfortable.

I received my digital check in invite. I like Hilton's app as you get to view a property map and choose a room. The only room available all day faced a wall. Hilton offered 3 upgrade rooms for additional money. I felt like I was bamboozled, but chose an upgrade anyway. I got a great rate (booked 2 months in advance) but after the upgrade, this hotel was not a better deal than many others in this area of Houston. I chose room 313 (upgraded 1 bedroom suite). New carpet, wallpaper and furniture. The room did not have a locking plate in the door jam, so the door would not lock properly. The room had red juice in the sink and red stains on the carpet in the living area. There were no towels in the bathroom and no dish soap for the dishwasher. Nothing to use to clean except water and paper towels. I went to the front desk. The guy was nice, apologetic, but I was not very happy about paying extra for an upgraded room, for really not an upgrade at all. I then moved to room 216, overlooking the pool. It was clean, new furniture and carpet. The bathroom cabinet was refurbished, but not the tub. The toilet was a higher than most which is nice for a 6' guy. The curtains/window shades were original and looked and smelled like it. Again, no soap for the dishwasher or anything to clean with except paper towels and water. I did speak with 2 housekeepers (to get towels and dishwasher soap). Both were helpful. They were nice too. The tvs are not updated. A USB drive will not work here.
