“The staff are excellent and the pool is incredible!”

Priceline lost our reservation. The staff helped us resolve this, upgraded our room for the trouble, and then ensured we had a memorable and positive experience. Each restaurant has its own specific flare, and all of them are delicious. We will stay here again.

This past thanksgiving, 2024, my friend came to visit me in Cali. This was her first time out west, I was scared she wouldn’t be fulfilled. We stopped by to Roosevelt because I had to pee and one of their sercurity officers (Cody M.) was so sweet to allow us to use their bathroom. After the bathroom, he was so kind to show us around a little because my friend knew so much about the history of the hotel. Cody took the time to show us around even though we weren’t even staying there that night. He was the kindest person who gave my friend and I a memory we will never forget. It’s been almost a week after and we are still thinking about the tour and just about how awesome the Hotel and workers were! 20/10! Go go go!!! You will only leave with a better experience!

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is one of the gems in downtown Hollywood. This grand dame, built in 1923, still scrupulously maintains its elegance, perhaps getting better with age. The interior design and architecture is Spanish mediterranean; the rooms are efficient Modern. The bathroom in our room had unique tiling reminiscent of Escher and a large walk-in shower. Bed was fine and TV was actually too large?! We ate at the main restaurant, Shirley Brasserie, which although sharing the name with the eponymous Shirley Temple cocktail (which was invented there), is an entirely adult dining experience and deserves its own review. The staff was attentive, and rescued a jacket I had left when we checked out. Some were acting in a docent role and at the drop of a hat were more than willing to explain the history of the place, including the Blossom Room which hosted the first Academy Awards in 1929. You can avoid valet parking for the more affordable public parking garage next door and there are places to get breakfast within close walking distance. Our main regret was the Spare Room being closed during our stay, but everything else was top notch, including the Shirley Temples we had in the Lobby Bar. We also missed the ginormous outdoor pool, but given it was November, we were probably wise to hold off. The Hollywood Roosevelt was not cheap, but not wildly expensive compared to other much less interesting hotels in the vicinity. If you were staying in or near Hollywood, I would at least price check the night against your options. You might be pleasantly surprised.

“Great Place!”

The staff were absolutely outstanding, incredibly thoughtful and professional and very knowledgeable and supportive! The service is excellent and the food is decent. Even though it’s right in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard, it feels like an oasis.
