Our family of four got in at 1 am due to crazy air travel issues. Jim, Shea and Jackson welcomed us by giving us their extra food/dinner, as we must have been looking worn out. We stayed for four nights and enjoyed the pool, the friendly bartenders and room cleaners, and overall had a great time here. Thank you so much to these three in particular for being so amazing.

“Passable — profound maintenance issues but friendly staff”

I stayed at this hotel in mid-June on a trip to see some family members, and I had a good stay overall. The staff were welcoming and accommodated us well, but we didn’t quite find the same excitement with the rooms. Our first room on the east end of the hotel raised some serious questions because its thermostat appeared to have gotten stuck and was emitting 80°F+ heat constantly on the first day of summer. Several fixtures, namely the restroom door handle, the PTAC cover box, and the main peephole cover for the room were loose, which prompted my father and I to call for a new room. Luckily, an attendant came to help us quickly and found us an open room despite the switch happening around 1:00 am. Fortunately, the second room, despite also having a loose bathroom door handle, didn’t raise as many alarms as the first. We didn’t find any noteworthy cleanliness issues in either room during our stay, so I’m pleased overall. As a result, we were able to settle into the second room relatively quickly and slept well during the three nights for which we stayed. The employees treated us well, whether in helping us finding the right room, at the front desk, or during breakfast, which also had great food despite it being pricey. Even though several maintenance issues around the hotel raised some red flags in me, I can tell that the employees made great efforts to ensure guests such as myself felt welcome. If you’re taking a visit to metro Grand Rapids, while I don’t know if I can call this my “first choice,” I wouldn’t rule out the Sheraton as an option for your lodging needs. All I can say is be mindful about maintenance issues, but the staff showed compassion and made attempts to mend issues.

“Over-rated”

I booked 2 nights at the Sheraton Grand Rapids (Sept 2024) and was given a king bed room. My wife and I checked in just after midnight. I booked 2 nights at the Sheraton Grand Rapids (Sept 2024) and was given a king bed room. My wife and I checked in just after midnight. The lobby was clean and nice and 2 people worked the front desk. When we entered our room, it was musty and smelled like dirty carpet. Thankfully we had a can of Febreeze. The bed was nice and comfy! The next morning, I took a shower and the water pressure was very weak! The hotel only provides a total of 2 bath towels per day so you have to ask for more. The hotel does not offer a complimentary breakfast and there is no complimentary coffee in the lobby. The hotel featured a 3.5 star rating, but I thought that was very generous. The rating is better described as 2.5 stars. I have stayed at Super 8's and Quality Inns that were nicer. We thought the hotel was average.
