I strongly recommend this hotel to any travelers heading through or staying in Gillette! The hotel was high quality, comfortable, and clean. The pool and workout areas were also great. I left behind an item, and working with customer service was super easy. Both receptionists I talked to were very patient and understanding, and helped me get them the shipping label so they could ship my item back, after holding the item for four days after I left.

“Best hotel stay in years!”

This was by far the best hotel we have stayed at in a very long time- and we stay at a lot of hotels. All of the staff from front desk to Housekeeping to the breakfast staff were very friendly. Here are a couple of things that made this stay so great… 1- housekeeping cleaned our room after just 1 night!! We haven’t had a hotel do that since @ 2020. Usually you have to stay for several days before they clean and you have to ask for fresh towels. 2- the bathtub was very large compared to a traditional hotel tub (long & deep) 3- the shower head pressure was very good- might be a little too hard for some people but we all loved it.

I returned to the Holiday Inn Express in Gillette for the fourth time in as many years when in this part of Wyoming for business. I do a work-related yearly trip to the area. As usual, this is exceptionally clean. One of the cleanest -- if not the cleanest -- Holiday Inn Express property that I've ever stayed at. Housekeeping does an excellent job. Better than the housekeeping standard at much nicer 4-star and even 5-star hotels. The location is decent, although most of the other chain hotels have a similar location. Walmart is a short drive away (maybe 3 minutes if you make the traffic lights). The Prime Rib Restaurant (probably Gillette's best restaurant or at least its only upscale restaurant) is about 5 minutes by car. Staff are friendly. Breakfast was better than average. The free for all guests buffet featured the complete Holiday Inn Express range. In the evening, they have complimentary fresh baked cookies and free popcorn from around 7 pm. My room was appointed with a Keurig coffeemaker, a bigger than average in-room refrigerator, and a microwave. In the bathroom, the usual toiletries were placed with wall-mounted dispensers containing handwash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. No bar of soap was provided. Plenty of towels were provided. Now, the bad: The TV is from 2011. 13 years ago. It's ancient. My TV didn't work. I had to get the front desk to come up to the room and play around with it. Even with a second remote control, none of the guides or on-screen graphics would display. So you just randomly had to flip through the channels. You couldn't even hit a channel number to go directly to that channel. Every time you turned off the TV and turned it back on, it reverted to the black-and-white snowy picture. You had to manually go through the setup to get it back to the input setting it needed to be on. This was and is completely unacceptable. The rooms are beyond tired. While exceptionally clean and overall well-maintained, everything looks like a Holiday Inn Express from 2008-2012. They are well past a renovation at this point. When I first stayed here in 2020 the hotel needed a renovation. Now, four years later, they are at least five or six years overdue. At least get some new TVs, update the wall art, and apply a fresh coat of paint or new wall coverings. IHG elite recognition continues to be nonexistent. Yes, it's a Holiday Inn Express but as an IHG diamond and Intercontinental ambassador you used to at least get a bottle of water at check-in. I was told check-out was at 12 pm with no possibility of a late check-out. Rates are high. At under $140 or maybe $150, it's an acceptable value. But over $150, it's expensive. The nearby Home2 (Hilton) or Fairfield (Marriott) offer more value for money at $175 or $200 per night.
