We had to make an unexpected trip to Galveston for a family emergency. We live 9 hours away, so we arrived late that afternoon very tired, & stressed. We stopped at the hospital first, regarding our family emergency. Then we proceeded to try to find a reasonably priced, clean & safe room for just the one night. We’re old school for the most part, in a modern world, and try not to use credit cards. So we were trying to find somewhere that would take cash. That ruled out 95% of places right off the bat. So it was almost 8 before we actually found the Super 8 by Wyndham. It’s behind the Waffle House. Well, let me tell you, we were so desperate we would have been willing to relax our standards a lot! We had even talked about sleeping in our car! But we were very pleasantly surprised & impressed with the size, cleanliness & price of the room! The night manager, Lala, could not have been any nicer! We try to look at any room before we book it, & she took us to the one right next to the office on the ground floor & it looked great! We had just come from another motel next door & the difference was incredible as to how much better this one was. The price was great, I think about $60, plus a refundable $50 because we paid cash. I was thoroughly impressed with the cleanliness & comfort of the room. We slept very well, despite the worry about our sick one in the hospital near by, exhaustion does that, I guess. It was also very quiet. And we had no problem getting our $50 back the next morning. We told the assistant manager, Erica, how helpful Lala had been the night before. This room was nicer than many places we have stayed. I don’t know if all Super 8 motels are this nice, but I guarantee you we will start with one of those wherever we go from now on. Lala helped us during a very worrisome time & was like a sea of calm in a time of distress. The absolute only thing i would complain about is I couldn’t find a usb port anywhere. But we just charged our phones in the car. So if you use cash, want affordability but still clean & nice, I highly recommend this little motel!
