We had an amazing 4 days. The breakfast was yummy. We spent the majority of the time at the pool and loved every second.

I hope the owner reads this as I'm a frequent traveler and stay there often...pretty much every month for at least 2 weeks at a time. I'm on an expense account and can stay pretty much anywhere, but I keep choosing the Baymont. The location is great and so are the people who work there. The staff are the main reason I keep coming back. I can't say enough about them. Now, owner...you have to help them out a little. Here's how: You need an auditor that checks the rooms for maintenance issues. Maybe even do a "staycation" yourself and room-hop for a couple of weeks. Check on your investment. It would be so easy to check off some small issues and over time, the hotel would be perfect. I've stayed in the same rooms on a few occasions and I've said to myself as I was walking into the room after I checked in, "I wonder if they've fixed the shower yet?" It wasn't fixed. Same goes for the other minor items like lightbulbs burnt out, fridges that freeze everything and the dial is missing, shower rod drooping, shower/faucet selector stuck halfway in the middle, etc. This isn't just one room, by the way...it's several rooms on several occasions. NOT COMBINED (even I would draw the line if that was the description of one room!), but each room might have one small issue. I hope I'm clear on that. Over the course of a couple of years I just noticed some trends. The last time I stayed there it was the droopy shower rod and the shower/faucet selector was stuck halfway. The time before that it was the room with the lightbulb burnt out over the counter, the time before I was in the room that had a torn curtain. Again, none of these things were showstoppers! Just a minor inconvenience. These small things just need to be fixed. All of these issues are minor. They really aren't a reason to condemn this hotel. I'm just thinking the staff must get tired of hearing complaints from the complainer-people and things don't get fixed. Make a checklist for an auditor (lightbulbs, shower rod, shower faucet, fridge temp, curtains torn, pillows still pillowy, etc.) and take on one room at a time. You're rarely sold-out so it won't hurt to take a room out of service and spend a day tweaking the place up. I know it would mitigate some of the complaints I've read online. If there's another reason these small items aren't being repaired, I couldn't imagine what they might be. None of these small (and I'm serious, readers...small) issues are enough to say "that's it. I'm not coming back" because there's so many good things about the Baymont. Like: ~The pool is open. I don't know what the other people were talking about. The hot tub isn't open, but it's Florida. The pool is warm. It's clean, and the pool deck is, too ~The staff are GREAT. I've met all of them and they're good people. Polite and professional. They never say anything negative and they're always on-point. ~The new furniture in the lobby gives the hotel a new look! Well done! ~The parking lot and exterior are clean. No oil stains, garbage, etc. ~I've never been charged for parking. I don't know why someone said that here, and I'm a Diamond member, too. ~The beds are pretty good for a hotel-series mattress. Sheets are clean, too. ~The price is right. Fort Myers is expensive and this hotel isn't. If I were taking my family on a vacation to Florida, we'd stay here and save some money and still enjoy the stay ~The rooms are clean. I've never had a dirty room. I'm sure if I looked hard enough I could find something, but the cleaning staff are always on point. Don't let the bad reviews scare you away. It's safe, a great location and you'll feel welcome. I'll be back.
